FishyFishy!
Updated FTS 03/10/2015 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here we go! The wife wanted to get more invloved in my hobby. She dosn't dare touch the big tank without having experience. So we are building a new nano together!I first had a Mr. Aqua 12 gallon long all drilled and ready to go. Then my cat jumped on the top of it while it was standing up on it's end.....and it fell and smashed. Not happy..... But onwards and upwards! So I had a custom tank built here in Calgary from Concept Aquariums. Here is my build!Tank:36" X 12" X 10" with external overflow - drilled for 3/4" herbie and 2 3/4" returns.Sump:32" X 24" X 18" - 7" filter sock, 10 Gallon refugiumLighting:24" 4 Bulb Wavepoint T5 fixture & 1 X 24" Reefbrite RB tech LED lightEquipment:Bubble Magus C3.5 Skimmer3/4" SCWD mechanical wave makerWaveline DC4000 return pump (1056 GPH)Jager 150W HeaterJBJ ATO with MJ900 pumpFuge Light - Marineland 12" LEDKoralia Nano's will be added if return and SCWD aren't enough flow10 Gallon ATO tankFirst pic after I bent the 3/4" conduit, painted it black and hung the T5 light. Sump setup Tank Plumbed! Added the Bubble Magus C3.5 to my big sump to start the break in - Looks tiny compared to the 12" Diablo Link to comment
FishyFishy!
Sand is in Water is in! A couple of hours later Light Shot And the scope of the whole room. It's located in my TV room. Yes... I could have fluffed up the pillows and cleaned up a little.... but meh. And thats it up to date! Things to do: Get temp up to 78-79 - sitting at 75 right now Keep adjusting skimmer as it breaks in Fill up fuge with DSB and cheato (already cycled from another tank) Still waiting for the Reefbrite 24" RB LED to come in Tidy up wires Mount DC pump controller Link to comment
FishyFishy!
Skimmer has started to pull light colored skimmate. But it stinks! So it must be doing it's job. Everything has been going great. Added a few Zoa frags on the weekend. And yesterday, I picked up the first two fish - Cherub Angel and Yellow Clown Goby. They seem to be adjusting nicely. Final (I think..) aquascape Left Island Right Island Random Zoa's Cherub! The coral colour will be much brighter when the reefbrite LED gets installed. Link to comment
FishyFishy!
Finally got a picture of the elusive yellow clown goby. He is getting more comfortable in his surroundings, so I am starting to see him a lot more. Link to comment
Sun_Queen
The tank looks awesome! Is your cherub angel good about not picking at stuff? I've always heard such mixed things about angels. also I love your little clown goby! They are one of my favorite fish, I have one in my 8 gallon. They do get more bold as time goes on, though mine has always been really outgoing. Link to comment
FishyFishy!
Thanks for the first post in my thread! lol. The cherub is good so far. I've had good and bad ones in my day. Every fish is different. I try to give them lots to pick at, so that they don't choose corals. I put a small acrylic rod with nori attached to it. He seems to like it. The only thing he got close to picking at was the large rhodactis mushroom once. But that thing could probably eat him it's so big... so he should choose his battles lol. Link to comment
FishyFishy!
I'm very happy with the bubble magus C3.5 skimmer. It's been running for about a month, and it's pulling out dark nasty skimmate. Considering I only have 2 fish in the tank, it's doing very well. Link to comment
malibumike
love this long dimension. can't wait until i'm able to setup a 40L. your tank looks beautiful. What other corals are you planning to add? Link to comment
FishyFishy!
So far i'm planning on Zoas, Rics and LPS. Mainly Frogspawn/Torch/Blasto's Etc. There is a small birdsnest in the right now, seems to be doing ok. When I upgrade the lighting a bit I might take some SPS from my big tank. On another topic, can anyone identify this Urchin? I have him in my frag tank and have never been able to truely identify him Link to comment
FishyFishy!
So, I decided to re-do the left side. I had way too much anthelia taking over. I felt like with the anthelia on the right, there would be just too much. Not enough room for other corals. Here is how it turned out. I also think that im going to take out the massive rhodactis mushrooms on the right to make some room. Haloween hermit Zoas And zebra hermit Link to comment
Lynton
Sweet tank... Following for sure!! Link to comment
