kwhelan
I am considering building my own lighting. Its seems very expensive, but I'm not liking the other options out there either. For a 70 gallon, 48x18x18 tank with CO2, what quantity of Lumia 5.2 lights are recommended? I was thinking about starting with two Lumia 5.2's and two 18" heat sinks, expand to four if needed. The problem is, the expansion to four will mean another 5up and a complete rewire possibly. As it is for everything I need, lighting with two lights is up over $600.00 with the stormx controller. I Could switch to the Maker controller and save a little, but if I do that will I be able to control two 5ups and 4 Lumia's if I wanted to. If I am reading things correctly I would need two maker controllers one for each of the 5up's and at that point it would be better to have the single stormx. kw Link to comment
jedimasterben
For a planted tank you could probably do three of them total instead of four. The MakersDrivers are daisy-chainable as far as control goes, so one controller can do a seemingly unlimited number of MakersDrivers. I think Milad tested 27 MakersDrivers in series and they all worked no problemo. If that's the road you want to go, then with three total Lumia, you're in the $630 ballpark for the heatsink, 3x Lumia, MakersDrivers, controller, and LDD. Need the last bits and bobs and such to finish it out. Also keep in mind that the Bluefish Mini is on its way, about $100 and wifi control over the six channels Link to comment
kwhelan
Is there a spec sheet on the Bluefish? Wifi? I guess that means I could write an app for it On a 48" tank I have an glass plate right in the middle. That's why I was thinking 2 or 4, the one in the middle would be diminished a bit by the glass plate. I need to go put all that stuff in the cart again cause I was well over 600 with just two lamps. I'll post my results back here and you can tell me what I have extra kw For a planted tank you could probably do three of them total instead of four.
