Hello everyone, longtime lurker on this site and hoping to become more active. I was out of the hobby for many years due to apartment living and still have a 210 setup sitting in my parents basement until i stop moving. I recently (November) picked up a brand new old f model luval edge 6 gallon with the halogen bulbs. Have since upgraded the lighting as well as added an ATO and additional circulation. Currently the tank includes:

Equipment:

- 50 Watt heater

- Koralia 240

- Hydor Smart Level ATO

- Orbit Marine LED (love this light on such a shallow tank).

- Stock Aquaclear 20 with some filter floss, LR rubble, half bag of chemipure elite, and small purigen bag.

Livestock:

- Pair of High-Fin (red banded gobies)

- Candy Cane Pistol

- Flaming Prawn Goby

- Panda Goby - disappeared or died. haven't seen in weeks....

- Pink Streaked Wrasse/Pelvic Spot Wrasse

- A full pack from RC with Dwarf Ceriths, Ceriths, Nassarious, and some Astrea snails.

Corals:

- Hammer Coral - Got too big - 1 head turned to 4, it was taking too much room in small tank. Went back to LFS

- Fire and Ice Zoa

- 5 different unknown Zoa colonies

- Green Mushroom

- Red Mushroom

- Blastomussa Wellsi - Green

- Blastomussa Wellsi - Red

- 6 small (2-3 heads each) various acan frags

- Rainbow Acans

- Blue Cats Paw

- Birds of Paradise

- Florida Green ricordia

- Orange Yuma

- Some awesome giant mushroom (ricordia)

- Sunset Millepora Frag

- Cyphastrea

- Pokerstar Montipora

- Rasta Zoas

- Superman Rhodactis

- Reverse Superman Monti

- Grape Cristata

- Pink Poccilopora

- Red Planet ORA Acro

- Purple Bonsia Acro

- Dragon Soul Favia

- Unknown Neon Green Acro

- Aquacultured Maxima Clam - I killed this guy.... when I first got him I moved him constantly and than he just died...lesson learned. ceramic discs in the future.

Still trying to figure out how to get good pics of this tank. Anyone have recommendations? I have an old Nikon D40 that does have custom white balance capabilities but I havent had much luck with it. Is thebest way to just take photos in RAW and not worry about white balance at all until editing in lightroom? What do you all suggest?

Wow, I really want to see a picture of this tank!

I think raw photos are fine, but try different things and see what works best.

Yea the big one in the center is the superman rhodactis. The green and red ones I have no clue what they are but they have tripled in size since picked up as a ten dollar frag about a month ago. They are some of the brightest I have ever seen.

Thank you, I gotta get some new pics up, it's getting more crowded with corals. My flaming prawn goby is out patrolling the tank like constantly now, such as awesome fish to watch rove around. Last week I did my first 100% water change and I was very happy with results. Everything was open and happy within like twenty minutes of the change. I left the tank for five days while I went to North Carolina with just my ato running (hydor smart level) and everything was perfectly happy upon my return as well. Now I just want a pink streaked wrasse. This tank is awesome but it's definitely not easy when it comes to cleaning detritus etc. That's why I did the 100 percent water change in order to kick everything up first with a turkey Baster and than remove it all. Nitrates before water change were around 5ppm and since the change have remained unmeasurable with Api and Red Sea test kits.

nice! Yea, i remember it being awful to clean, and the whole lighting situation was ridiculous. when you take pictures, can you take some of how you did your lights too? not that I have time or the budget for it right now, but I'm curious what I would have to do to get mine back up and running...

oh i was completely lazy with my lights. lol. its just a current orbit marine sitting on small piece of plexiglass going the length of the tank.

I've been eyeballing this aquarium as a potential second aquarium down the road, so it's nice to see someone work with it. I thought the stock filtration went through the top or something, or is that just the Fluval Chi?

The edge just uses a aquaclear 20 HOB filter. I replaced the impeller in mine with an impeller from an ac30 for a little extra flow. I Have been pretty happy with setup but it's still young, born in November 2014. I tried to make use of the stock look with the hood on the top but I wasn't trying to spend an insane amount of money lighting this tank. I had seen some real good diy builds that fit in the stock hood but they weren't cheap since the dimm4 was discontinued and I still thought they left a lot of darker areas on the edges of the tank. So far really happy with the orbit marine led, I keep the blues at 100% with ramp up and down and they are on for 10 hours a day and the white are on for four hours with a max of 45%. So far everything is growing. Sps, softies And lps. All my acans are having babies, hammer is splitting one head into three, cats paw and birds of paradise are growing great and have awesome PE. it's a fun tank, just can be a pita to do things in. I use a small baby medicine dropper as my turkey baster to blow off rocks etc. I use rscp salt and either do two small changes. Week of like 1-2 gallons or a big change of 3-5. My biggest problem with the tank is trying to figure out where to place all the corals because it's so small and hard to move things around I leave a lot of things on the sand bed until I'm positive where I want it.

Hey all, so I recently removed my Hammer coral as it was getting to large for this six gallon tank and was trying to sting everything near it. I really like how open the tank looks without it in the corner anymore. Anyways, on to new stuff:

I got a aquacultured maxima a few weeks ago from Pacific East Aquaculture. So far he is doing awesome.

Also picked up two acros (red planet and something else). Both are looking great with crazy PE.

Lastly, I got a couple more color acans and a dragon soul favia.

On to the fish pickup- I just got the coolest little panda goby. Anyone have info or tips on them? Should I definitely get it a pocillopora?
