Hey everyone, I currently have a biocube 14 as my main tank. but tonight I found a 10g tank out by the dumpster at my apartment complex. any opinions or ideas on what to do with it? I was thinking about turning it into a frag tank but would love to hear some other ideas.

At least with a macro/pest tank you don't need a fancy light. I have a basic marineland led strip that had like 4 blue lights in it and it's over my mantis Gertie's tank. It'd be kinda cool to ask your lfs for any pest crabs and such they find and let you buy them.

Softies and macros don't need a lot of light. If you made it into a softie/macro/frag tank, you could frag the softies and macros to sell/trade to offset the costs of this hobby.

I'd be hesitant to use a tank that was a sitting by a dumpster. You never know what's been in there. In the unlikely event that it was a QT/hospital tank that had seen cupramine, it would be bad news bears. If it used to house a hamster or gerbil, the silicone may have absorbed other things you don't want in your tank, too. A 10g tank is $15 at petco. If you really want to start a 10g, I think it's best just to start fresh. It'll probably be the most inexpensive part of your new setup.

Bleach the tank. I found 1:100 to be the recommended to kids toy sanitation delution... 10 gallons is 1280 oz. So about 13 oz bleach should take care of it. Just my opinion and I believe you'll find contradicting opinions
