I need a backup plan for lights

Pretty much the next (biggest) purchase I need to make for the 40 breeder I'm setting up is my lights. Originally I wanted to buy the nanobox quad with bluefish for about 700$. But me and my wife just found out we have a frag on the way. Now I'm not so sure she's going to go for it. That's why I need a backup. I really like the fact that the nanobox has goosenecks. Perfect solution for my apartment situation. I just want to be ready with a rebuttal if my wife decides to veto. Lol

There's always the "ploy" of having one's "backup" be the more expensive option, like say the upcoming NanoBox Hybrid (or another, more expensive option), and then the original idea seems less expensive, but that tactic can backfire just as readily as it can work...

Whitewulfe that's a dangerous tactic. But it may be what I need. I'm going to keep the kessils in my back pocket because I think those are my only ready made option. Anything else would be diy (like I've done before) but I don't think I save that much money

YOU DON'T PISS OFF A PREGNANT WOMAN!!!!

Do whatever she tells you with a smile on your face and say "Yes Dear"

Make your tank as maintenance free as possible and enjoy your baby.

Indeed it is a rather dangerous one, and one I've never used myself because I married a techgeek that prefers saltwater over fresh, and who's only demands were "so long as we can watch tv without lights blaring in our eyes, and there are clownfish as well as spikey and branchy corals (acans are his fave so far it seems)"...

Make the argument that it's an investment for your child's future

Quality lights--> faster coral growth --> sell more frags --> quick, robust college fund for the little one.

With today's gasoline prices, you can't afford NOT to buy a pony. I mean an LED.

But more realistically, two A160we will come to ~ $125 cheaper than a quad, and that's if you buy them brand new and w/ the Kessil controller.

3xx are more powerful. I think it's like 90 watts vs 40 watts or something like that. Oh, and of course the price. haha

You could also keep an eye out for a used 27"/ 160W Maxspect Razor (typically under $350), which is half what you are planning now...
