PAR30 Questions

I have a 4.3g Cube reef. I bought both the 18K Vibrance and 22K SuperBlu PAR30's in order to compare them. I plan of stocking my little cube with many different high end zoas and plays along with some sps. I like the 18K Vibrance because of all the colors it offers, but it does not make my red and orange corals, such as my utter chaos zoa, pop like the green ones. The 22K SuperBlu looks beautiful and does achieve the amount of glow and pop from the reds and oranges, but I was told that it may not provide the proper light for longterm color and growth.

That being said, I was wondering if I am fine just using the SuperBlu bulb without having my corals suffer from color loss or slow growth, or if i should use the 18K Vibrance and supplement it with a blue led strip of some kind to provide that extra pop from all of my corals that Im looking for? On the other hand should I keep the SuperBlu and supplement it with a white led strip for growth?

Sorry for the long question but any comments or advise would be much appreciated

Thanks so much

Sorry for the delayed response.

The 22k will provide enough light for long term color and growth. I can tell you from personal experience, I have been running 2 of our 35w 22k superblu bulbs over a 50g moxed reef for over a year now, and have great growth and color. Better color actually than frags of the same corals in some of our other tanks.

In my opinion, if you like the look of the 22k and are only concerned with color and growth, I would stick with that, so long as you like the really blue color. Personally, using the 18k with an additional strip light would kind of be defeating the purpose of the sleekness and style of a single par bulb over a nano reef.

Hope that helps. If you have any other questions, just let us know.

Thanks.

Thanks so much for the response! I did decide to stick with the 22K as I am super happy with how much it makes my corals glow and light up. Glad to hear it wont be a detriment to their growth as well. Both PAR30's have turned out to be better than expected and are great quality. I will definitely recommend these to other reefers as they are a very economical option for LED lighting.

Thanks again and keep up the good work CoralCompulsion :D
