Brooklynreefer
Having a bit of an issue with a fairly new tank.....running about a month.....put a pair of clowns in and added a CUC.... Taking things slowly.... Ohh it's a IM novo fusion 10g btw About 3 days ago my water went for looking like there was no water.....to like someone put a couple of drops of milk in the tank My ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate had all spiked and came down as per any normal cycle But now as the bloom has started I'm noticing the ammonia going up and down a bit.... Like 0.25 and back to 0.... Is the bloom the cause or is my test kit a POS?? Any help would be great....thanks guys Link to comment
paulrw
what brand tests are you using? the ammonia spike is most likely the cause of the milky water (bacteria bloom) 1 month is not a long cycle. can we have more specifics about your tank. did you start with dry rock? did you seed your tank with bacteria or start with live rock/sand? did you test during your cycle? Brooklynreefer
Api master test kit....not the best I know but it's what I got Live sand, cured live Rock from an established tank......nutra sea water I tested throughout my cycle and everything spiked as it should and came down on its own.....up until this foggy water business the only thing that was somewhat high was my nitrates at 10ppm and I was getting rid of those with reg WCs Link to comment
ndrobey
The ammonia and bacteria probably spiked because of the addition of the fish. Link to comment
