CronicReefer Posted February 26, 2015 Share Posted February 26, 2015 I use 100% sodium carbonate purely because it is unbelievably cheap (I think I paid $7 for a gallon container) and it is is easy to measure out exactly how much you need to add to your water to raise it a certain level. I use about 1.5-2 grams per day so this gallon container should easily last me the next 5+ years. Link to comment

Very helpful Make sure you figure out how much your corals are absorbing daily though so you don't accidentally raise the alkalinity in your tank too high, do not add more than 1 gram at a time, and be sure to dissolve in your top off water before adding it. vuqchu Posted March 22, 2015 Share Posted March 22, 2015 Are you using a dosing pump? If so you can make the adjustment slowly until you hit the alk level you'd like to run the tank and balance things out after that. Link to comment
