vlangel
so i have a 25g tank i setup for some horses but im torn on what type to do? I want some that have more color other than black. Also could you mix with dwarf horses too?? Hi knives, seahorses are very charming fish but they have some specific needs that are crucial to their well being. One need is the greater seahorses should be in a tall tank, 18 - 20" high and 30 gallons minimum for 2 seahorses with a filtration system that has at least 10 Xs turn over. H. erectus are a good beginner seahorse and they do come in nice colors. Just know that all seahorses can change colors so there is no guarantee that they will stay the color they were when purchased. It is always best to buy captive bred even though they generally cost more. In the end they are healthier and more suited for aquarium life than their wild caught counterparts. Also most CB seahorses are trained to eat frozen mysis. You can not mix dwarf seahorses with greater seahorses. Their needs are totally different. Since they are a high maintenance fish it would be wise to research them thoroughly before you buy any so it does not end in heartache for you and your pet. Link to comment
