Aquaticlife 115 foaming endlessly! Please help!

I tried to set up my aquaticlife 115 skimmer today in chamber 1 of the bc29. I turned it on and it started to foam so much that the collection cup filled in minutes. I emptied it and adjested the flow. It still foamed. I did that several times to no avail. I've even tried leaving the cup partly off so lots of foam would escape before making it to the tube. That didn't work either. The cup just keeps filling. The skimmer hangs with the air intake just above the water line. Am I doing something wrong? Please help! Thanks, Liv

The right top side w/ the slits in it for bubbles to leave into the tank, is it under water? And is the collection reservoir above water? Other than that not sure what to say- I don't know how they fit into those tanks. And it takes a week to break in.

You're welcome. It's great for my 20g w/ my mantis Gertie and my royal gramma and macro, but not enough of a cleaner for my 34g w/ 4 fish & 10g refugium. I just have to get myself in gear and hangthe Reef Octopus HOB skimmer I bought for the refugium.

it looks like youre not getting enough air. when my skimmer did that i took it apart and found salt crystals in the air line. i did the airline mod to mine to quiet it down and keep the air intake above water. i also added an air valve so i could tune the air flow to fine tune the performance of the skimmer. but the best thing i did to that skimmer was throw it away. the cad lights pls50 is a far better skimmer.

Thanks bdevillier. How do I take it apart to clean the air intake? And would raising it a little bit more prevent the same problem in the future?

Or can I just run freshwater down theintake to disolve/dislogde them?

I think if I just leave it running it will break in. Did a bit more reading and sounds like this is normal. Sorry to inconvenience you for a noobs idiocy. :(. Thanks for all the help

The whole skimmer splits in half by removing the 2 black clips that the suction cups mount to. To clean the hose I get the fuzzy pipe cleaners for kids crafts and use those to swab the air hose.

Thanks bdevillier19, Im hoping that the foaming stops as it breaks in without me having to take it apart. When I cheacked, even though the collection cup was extremely full, it didnt overflow and the water was slightly off color. Does that mean that its working?

it could be your water wasn't dirty enough to pull anything at the time. If it has a little color it's starting to work. I always get tea colored water and that's what you can expect with it but it does what it needs to for my simple mantis tank. I've never had anything blocked on the 2 I have. I clean the cup and that's the only maintenance I've ever done.
