jabeuy
Are these the sweeping stinger tentacles I read about, coming out of my hammer? Or could there be something else that's wrong? The pictures I've seen online usually just have 1, not this many like mine. I've had this hammer for about 7 months, and it hasn't done this till recently. Link to comment
CronicReefer
Very cool! Those are definitely the sweepers that they can produce. I've never seen mine produce any but I have heard they can get to be 6-7" long. Link to comment
CosmicCanine
Yup! Those are sweepers! it can mean that its too close to other corals. It can also mean its pissed off. but IMO it looks really happy. most likely the maze brain or the right is making it upset since it looks like its upwind from the hammer. Link to comment

It was showing skeleton and looked bad, so I suspected the hammer was stinging it lol. Yup! Those are sweepers! it can mean that its too close to other corals. I think it's happy It opens up a lot more during the day, so probably sweepers. I think you're right about being close to other corals. Sweepers showed up around the time a friend dropped off a bunch of corals for temporary holding (which included the lobo and maze in the picture). I've seen the maze bring out it's stingers as well (short and clear), and might've stung the hammer which caused the hammer to get into fight mode. Now that I think about it, the hammer probably stung the duncan in the picture as well. One of the duncan's heads near the bottom turned inwards for a few days. Probably need to do some re-arranging soon. Link to comment

farkwar
I squirt water with baster at them until they retract, if I'm in a nice mood. Bad mood, they get a scalpel blade. Link to comment
jabeuy
I finally moved the hammer...out to another tank! The tipping point was when I saw one of it's tentacles being eaten by a Duncan head. Can only imagine how that happened hahaha Link to comment

LynkUK
I often wondered why some people experienced sweeper tenticles being produced by their eupyllias, while others dont. Obviously ciral proximaty can have a bearing on it, but I recently read that high flow can also be a trigger for eupyllias to produce them also. Great images. Link to comment
