jerseynano Posted February 18, 2015 Share Posted February 18, 2015 Hi everyone, new to the pico hobby. I have a 3 gal picotope. I am currently running filter floss, carbon, biosponge. I know the biosponge is not necessary due to LR. Based on reading most people run chemi-pure elite with floss. Any suggestions? Link to comment

SchnauzerFace Posted February 18, 2015 Share Posted February 18, 2015 Hello! Welcome to the pico hobby. I have a 4g that runs filter floss, chemipure elite and purigen. If you're using chemipure elite, you won't need the carbon. I think chemipure is a great alternative to carbon because it does the same job as carbon (giving crystal clear water) but also controls nitrates and especially phosphates, which carbon doesn't necessarily do. I've never used a biosponge, but I think your tank might be better off without it. Link to comment
