Mirya
Yes, I know this is a reef forum, but for those of you who have planted tanks, do many of you have Dave's Flare? I know I love the output on Dave's Tide boards for reef tanks. I'm curious how do folks like the Flare and how is plant growth with it? I'm actually working on putting together a vivarium that will be LED lit. People shoot for 6500K color and tend to use LEDs designed for planted tanks. Most vivarium builders go for fairly cheap LEDs like the JungleDawn, but I'm spoiled. I want a controllable light with sunrise/sunset, etc. I already own 3 NanBoxes for me reef tanks. Seems like going with a NanoBox for the viv is a no brainer. Link to comment
jedimasterben
Well, at this time, the only boards Dave has are the reef version. To get ones for a planted tank, the minimum is 100x boards. He sells like one Flare for every 50 or so Tides, so it doesnt make sense to sit on over $5k of LEDs and have to sell them over the next few years lol. I actually just bought a pair of the reef boards and am sending them to a buddy that is a wizard with reflow, having him try and remove the four royal blue Luxeon T and replace them with 6500k Luxeon TX. If he can do it, then I'll let you (and everyone else) know Link to comment

brad908
Ended never getting the tank wet, but the plants grew super quick during dry start Link to comment
rocksmom
Question for Ben or Dave: I already have a tide and am planning on switching my tank to planted. I've used cheap LED fixtures in the past for planted, but was thinking of just keeping my tide and running channel 2. Would that not be a good idea? I think I have the V2 array if it makes any difference. Link to comment

Adam Maskew
I use a Nano Flare with Bluefish on a small AOI. I'm growing some simple stuff at the moment: Java Fern, micro sword, HM, crypts and buce. They have all responded really well to the light and shown signicant growth and health. It is a no-CO2 tank but has a large drop in the water outlet and high turn over. The light spill has also allowed me to grow some small pots of rabbit foot fern, HM and dwarf hair grass. They are doing very well as well. Adam http://postimg.org/image/5uadjcxsl/ Link to comment
