How bad is to have 2 reef tanks

Haha, I am currently setting up a 60g frag tank in my room!! I already have one in my living room is a 60g cube right here: http://www.nano-reef.com/topic/357270-sirhks-60g-cube/

But today thinking about it, I asked my self why in the world I wanted a second tank? Idk if my addiction is reaching a whole new level or what...

Just wanted to know how many of you actually have 2 tanks or more than 2?

I'm not rich enough to have 2 tanks.

Is your first tank really at it's full potential?

Not really no, I can say it has no more space to add more corals, has been running for 8 months and everything is doing great.

I am not rich but the second tank was a good deal. It is a deep blue frag tank that cost me 180 and a 48" ATI sun power dimmable that cost me 300 dollars with new bulbs. Was from a friend that moved out of the state. The sump and the skimmer I already had from an old set up, so that is why I decided to start the second one.

uh, I have 4. I should've started with a larger tank in the beginning but I uh, um.. didn't know if I was going to like it??? smallest is an Evolve8 and largest is 60. Still all running. The 2nd tank was a great deal discount from my sister who works w/ Petsmart, then in getting that rock shipment for that 34g I found 3 mantis shrimp so the 20g home began- it was to be a fuge for the 34 and the stand couldn't hold the 20 underneath. There is ALWAYS a reason another tank pops up. Always. You will find reasons if they're not readily apparent. :P And you will always justify your purchases.

A guy around me has 5 reef tanks running currently. I've 2 tanks at once and will again have two tanks running once I get the solana running.

i went cold turkey about 5 years ago. i haven't even started the build on my first one yet and i'm planning my second. if it's keeping you out of the juke joints it's not all bad.

I only have my one, and it is so hard to resist another (larger) tank. I keep telling myself to wait until we have our larger house in a few years.

My wife already cleared for me a new tank budget to be included with other moving/setup costs such as new furnature and remodeling. :) this will be my chance to do an amazing tank and do it right in every way.

Will probably be about a 100g reef.

So the catalyst for my accepting the delay is to understand that I either scrap my biocube 14 which I love and do something like an IM nivo 30 or 40 for 1-4 years, or wait and keep my BC14 in addition to my dream tank. I choose the later.

I do however have a 29g planted freshwater down in my movie theater which I am so tempted to flood with salt water and convert to another reef or FOWLR tank. Problem is I still have a few tetras in there and I don't want to just get rid of them like that. Plus is end up dropping several hundred Bucks into that tank which id rather spend of corals in my Biocube.

Damn this hobby!!

Im up to 4 tanks. One at home and 3 at work. One in my office and two friends that I got going. I almost think you're weird if you dont have multiple tanks haha. I've even started thinking about getting another tank going at my house. SHHH dont tell my wife :D

Is there something beside a red sea 130d that looks nicer and is enclosed? I really want a tank full of various bubble tip nems. My clowns need a home besides this shoddy QT setup.

Unless it is plumped to the same system, or it is significantly smaller than my main tank (such as a little pico) I personally wouldn't bother with a second tank. Twice the maintaince and testing and so on, and if you neglect either tank, it will only make you feel more dissatified with the hobby. Sometimes less is more! I think it's healthy to step back sometimes and realize the word "addiction" which is used all the time on these forums is not just a fun thing we say to eachother, but it can be a real problem! Everytime I get too addicted to the hobby, I look what it is in life that I'm trying to distract myself from, and then try to fix that.... somethings such as the crappy weahter in Canada just can't be fixed!

I agree with Swing2Harmony. I can't imagine the work maintaining more than 1 SPS tank. Heck, right now it's a heck of a lot of work to bring my 90g back from the brink of a crash.

I just finished setting up one. Waiting for it to finish cycling and I'm waiting on a delivery for a second one. The first is a 20 long the second one a 25 gallon cube.
