D Z
How big would you go? Or would you still stick with a Nano and just buy the hottest most rare coral that you can find? I got to dreaming a little bit and my mind was wondering and realized this would probably make for a fun topic. I would probably retire at 30(I'm turning 30 in 2 months), build a nice house around a 400 - 500 gallon tank with dedicated fish room. The fish room would house all the equiptment, as well as a number of QT's and frag tanks. Oh, and I would still have at least 1 nano, probably in my home office. What would you do??? Link to comment

GHill762
same but larger. I used to drool over a 1500g built into a basement with a huge fish room. that, or I'd just buy a house on a polynesian island.. Link to comment

itzju
I'd just buy a house on a polynesian island.. I would buy a house in the Philippines and travel Southeast Asia and Australia, go diving to see the real reefs. then aggressively invest and set up accounts that put my money to work. ... live off interest and such. don't want to be part of the many that blew through millions. just thinking about the monthly electric bill that one guy who owns the largest privately own aquarium has to pay, $10,000. not for me. lol Link to comment

I've never understood how people blow through millions like that. where did you see that he pays 10k/mo in electric? that doesn't even seem possible. Link to comment

I could believe 10k+/yr, but /mo? that seems wrong. if that's correct, he needs to invest in some solar panels and use some natural lighting. Link to comment
Sunstar
Well as I am in canada, I probably am not eligible for powerball. But lets say I am. A nice 200G with bells and whistles, LED, SUmps, pumps and at least a royal Gramma and Manderin. Link to comment
CronicReefer
I'd build a tank so big I could go diving in it, or better yet I could just build a private reef in the gulf since I live in Florida. Link to comment
RK_tek
I'd take half to the roulette wheel, put it on black and see if I hve .5 or 1.5 what I started with. Then I'd buy a repo'd 100ft yacht, refit it and sail the Caribbean. I'd also get a 150-300 display tank with a dedicated fish room for my modest house in Nevada on 1000acres. I don't want a tank so big that maintenance is a huge ordeal. And no, I won't hire anyone to come take care of my tank. Link to comment
dmasterx1x
i might buy a zoa or two that i see posted here sometimes for $50/polyp Link to comment

glennr1978
I would buy a yacht and live on it. Anytime I want to go check out corals I would jump off the boat. Link to comment
Chungy
I would quit my job and open a saltwater fish store. And live happily ever after... Link to comment
Halo_003
I WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! $4. Doubled my investment in the ticket. If I won... I would probably enroll to finish my undergrad at Carnegie Melon or U Penn, buy a condo nearby and set up a nice 50G long (36"x18"x18"). Nothing crazy. After school though I'd be very interested in a few thousand gallons. Link to comment
Pinner Reef
I've always dreamed that it would be cool to live in a house with an acutal river running thru it. Have it start at one end of the house in a atrium wander thru the living room under some glass and get sent up to the top again. Soo I'd make a fresh water river in my house, have trout and stuff living in there. Atrium would probably have something salty in there... like a lagoon. Link to comment
MikeTR
500 mil? I'd buy me an island and learn how to scuba dive my private reef. Link to comment
markalot
I would move up to a deep dimension tank 200+ gallons but not overly huge, and spend a lot of money automating everything, plus buy one of those fast 1:1 $4000 RO/DI units to make more water faster. The rest of the money would be for retirement and vacations. Link to comment

NirvanaandTool
With that kind of money? I'd build a bigger house and get something in the 10-16 ft long range built in a dedicated room with a fish room behind it and get all the large angels I could handle. Link to comment
kimberbee
Step 1. Invest Step 2. Profit even more Then pay off debt. Set my mom up with a nice house and car. Set myself up with a nice house and car. I probably wouldn't get a tank bigger than 200 gallons ever. My knowledge is limited, and I don't want to rely on paying someone else to keep it the way I want. But I would definitely have multiple tanks - like 4. I'd also have other pets that would have their own sweet set-ups: dog, bunnies, teeny frogs. Link to comment

seabass
Starfire glass (both front and back panels), 180 gallons (72 x 24 x 24), within wall (separating two rooms, visible from both), side overflows hidden, (on one side) built in lighting/access cabinets up top w/ mini freezer/fridge (for food) and storage underneath, the other side just a clean wall, and sump located in an equipment room in the basement. I just don't see wanting to take care of anything much larger. Link to comment
