teenyreef
One of my new zoa frags closed up two days after I got them. They looked great the first day or so, but have been closed and melting ever since. I've tried peroxide but it doesn't seem to have helped at all. I do have Furan II and that's what I plan to try next, but I don't have much hope at this point. I'm not sure if it's zoa pox or a fungus or what. Any ideas? Thanks! Here's what they look like now. natalia_la_loca
Def try furan 2. Bad necrosis there. I would try the pox treatment protocol, I think it's 3 dips in furan 2. Looks like there's almost nothing to lose at this point. Link to comment
teenyreef
Thanks - that's exactly what I was going to try. First dip starts tonight. And I agree, there's nothing to lose 'cause they are well on their way out Link to comment
lkoechle
We tried the peroxide dip, and I think that just killed them. Our pox marks were bigger, but yeah, it doesn't look like you have anything to lose at this point. Link to comment
natalia_la_loca
good luck, let us know how it turns out! Link to comment
teenyreef
The only time I've had a peroxide dip kill zoas has been one time when they were almost gone anyway. Every other time they open up much happier within twenty four hours. That's how I knew I had a bad problem with these guys and broke out the camera. First Furan treatment is done now. Two more days to see if they make it or not. I'll follow up and let you know how it went. Thanks again everyone for the quick advice Link to comment
teenyreef
They are still barely alive after the second Furan II treatment. I still see tiny white spots, but there's a lot more brown stuff? Sick Zoas by TeenyReef, on Flickr I don't think this is heading for a happy ending Link to comment
teenyreef
The third day of treatment is complete. Still going downhill. I tried a little hydrogen peroxide just as a last ditch desperation measure. Poor zoas Sick Zoas - Day 3 by TeenyReef, on Flickr Link to comment

teenyreef
sorry to see that It's so sad to lose something so beautiful. Thanks! And it's even sadder when you buy a bunch of new zoas to make up for it. Well, not really Just since I've been posting every day to show how it's going, here's what they look like on Day 4. Sill alive but still not getting any better. There are a couple polyps just on the left side on the top that look better than the rest, so there's still a chance that something might survive. natalia_la_loca
Yup if any polyps will pull thru it's them. If they're still there in a few days I would do another round of furan. No more h2o2. Link to comment
teenyreef
Day 5 (last night). There's less and less of them every day. I'll be out of town Tuesday-Friday next week, so it will be more like a week and a half between treatments. I think if anything is still alive my Monday night it should pull through regardless. teenyreef
Thanks for all the help, everyone, but when I got back from my trip all I had left was a bare rock. Not real surprising, but it's always good to know for sure. I've ordered a bunch of new zoas so I'm not giving up Link to comment
