CAD-Aqua
Hey guys Just got a message from a customer that was resolved quite simply. I guess the rule applies, when things get complicated, go back to the basics. glad these tips worked for him and hope they can work for anyone else running into a similar issue. > Thank you, completelly broke down the pump and found a blokage in the> ventury. the skimmer is working fine now.> > thanks> Joe>> On Wed, Feb 4, 2015 at 1:38 PM, <sales@cadlights.com> wrote:>>> Hi, Joseph>>>> Thank you for your message. which model do you have?>>>> typically protein skimmer maintenance of once per month will work>> well. such as removing the impeller, cleaning it and the impeller>> slot, cleaning the volute and venturi, cleaning the air line and air>> silencer to make sure there is no debris. these general tasks work>> very well. another way you can test out the skimmer is to remove the>> air silencer and have just the airline. this tests out the full>> strength of the pump.>>>> Thank you so much>> Scott>>>>>> ------------------------------------------------------>>>>>> Hi, I have a CAD Space Saver Protein Skimmer, i keep having>>> issues with it.>>> it workes for about 2 weeks then stopps generating boubles. not>>> sure what i>>> am missing during the cleaning process. please let me know if>>> there is a>>> cleaning process. thanks>>> Joe Link to comment
tr1gger
My CADlights skimmer quits on me every week or so. I emailed support, exchanged a few emails with my order # and such and nothing ever came of it. Pump is repeatedly cleaned and the cleaning never seems to help. It will just come back on by itself if I just leave it plugged in over the course of a few days. Not to mention that my stand paint is starting to split at the seams and the paint is chipping. Still cant get the doors to align correctly and most of the screws came stripped either in the wood or had missing screws. Link to comment

CAD-Aqua
seems like your pump may be a bit tight on the cap which can prevent the impeller from spinning. a simple way to prevent this is to first assemble your pump back after cleaning. then plug in the pump and give it a tap, to get the pump going. then unplug and put back into your sump for normal use. if the pump doesn't run right away and is stuck, DONT leave the pump plugged in as it can burn itself out. another way of testing the pump is. while the pump cap is off, plug it in. for older pumps and sometimes new pumps the impeller chamber can be tight, so you can use a stick-like object and gently turn the impeller. this should free up any blockages and the pump should move. if it doesn't, then there may be something wrong with the pump itself. hope these checking tips help Link to comment

I just opened my cabinet this morning and my skimmer was off. So its been off for at least 10 hours without me knowing.... I am seeking a replacement and at the time I sent my emails it was under warranty and now I doubt it still is. So now what? Link to comment
