I was reading a topic last night about a build using a pentium 2 heat sink and dim4 controller. I was looking up the parts they used to get a price on everything and noticed that the dim4 is not available anymore. I want to be able to control each color independently and need help on how to do that without the dim4. The thread I'm referring to. http://www.nano-reef.com/topic/288026-the-ultimate-edge-led-setup/

The DIM4 has been discontinue in favor of the MakersLED system, they were selling very few of them once the MakersController came around. The cost is unfortunately higher, but in return you get a controller that has quite a few more features and will be much more adjustable than the DIM4 due to the way the DIM4 worked.

Sure, you could use that heatsink. Instead of the Dim4 which is expensive you could look into a Storm Controller from Coralux for $65 and get a nice case for $10. If you're looking for decent led's look into SemiLed's from Steve's Led's or if you want better quality look at the Luxeon ES he has available or look into Dave's new V.3 NB boards.

So you're looking at:

Storm & Case- $75-$80 shipped

SemiLED Warm Whites- $7.40 for 4 ( prices double if you choose Luxeon's instead of Semi's )

SemiLED Royal Blue- $7.40 for 4

SemiLED Hyper Violets- $9 for 2

Coralux 24pin Socket for LDD's- $1.23 for 3

Coralus 3up LDD Board- $7.99

Coralux Jumper Wires- $1.44 for 3

Meanwell 700mA LDD's- $21 for 3

For the led's and all the storm stuff I listed above is $145 shipped then whatever you choose to mount them on and how you mount it. I'm sure Ben can chime in and possibly tell you something better.
