Dlc27 Posted February 1, 2015 Share Posted February 1, 2015 My IM Nuvo 8 was my first salty and it's been awesome, but from the experience I've gained through piecing it together with used parts here, and upgrades there, I'm starting this one out from scratch, and with the whole shebang in one purchase. Decided to go with the 20 fusion since I'm over the cube footprint, but I don't want to increase the overall size too much. I'd love to get some feedback on what's in my cart before I click the checkout button! Stock transferred in will be mushrooms (some florida rics and a colony of red discosoma), torch, hammer, duncan, candy cane, and a few acans and micromussas. I'd like to add a rock nem, and some more lps. I may go with some acros in the future if I decide I need to supplement or replace my current light (Nanobox mini tide w/ Storm controller). I've never used it at full power on the 8, but I'm not sure how it will handle the 24" spread on the 20. Obviously the staples in my cart are the IM Nuvo Fusion 20g (tank only) and the IM stand for 20g. Next 20 lb bag CaribSea Arag Alive Special Grade reef sand. I have the Figi Pink now, and want something a tad larger grain size I think. Too many pockets for detritus to build up, and messy to clean. 1 more spin stream to couple with the one I already have. I don't want a powerhead in my display at all so I'm upgrading the pump to the Sicce Syncra 1.5. Anyone have any input as to whether I should go with the 1.0 instead? The 1.5 is 357gph and the 1.0 is 251 vs. the stock pump at 211. Everything I've read indicates that the gph of the Sicce pumps is already better than the gph on the stock pump in a 1 to 1 comparison so maybe the 1.5 is too much or overkill for my lps stock? Tunze DOC 9001 protien skimmer. Tunze Ozmolator Nano. I'm comfortable with the float switch setup since I'll only have a gallon size reservoir. I trust Tunze, and the worst case scenario is minimal damage. Unless someone has a cheaper better option? 1 IM custom caddy for Chemi Pure and Purigen. For now I'm holding off on another one for the other side. I'd like to see how the Two Little fishes basket in my 8 fits. If it doesn't I'll add another for a fuge. I've already modified the Skye light that came with my 8 into a mag light for the fuge. I'm also going to go with CaribSea's Life rock this time over real live rock. I'm transferring only the pieces from my 8 that have corals stuck to them, and trashing a few that have had apistas that refuse to die when burned with a laser (yeah I tried it) or injected with variouse treatments. No more pest hitchhikers! I'd love some feedback! Link to comment
aviator300 Posted February 2, 2015 Share Posted February 2, 2015 With the 1.0, each nozzle would put out about 125 GPH with some reduction from the Spin Streams. Sounds a little low without any additional flow pumps. I'd go with the 1.5 because it's always easier to reduce flow than increase it. Link to comment

Looks like the Tunze DOC 9001 isn't going to fit though. That's irritating. In fact the only choice I seem to have is the IM Ghost. After browsing some pictures and 20 fusion threads I may switch may sand to black as well. Link to comment
