sprayed99
What would be a decent macro to have in your display? I'm trying to find something that will function as a nutrient reducer and still look decent in the display of an AIO tank. Link to comment
Catbus
It's all dependent upon personal preference. I had some in my biocube for a few months before it got eaten. In my opinion so long as you don't allow it to take over it can look excellent. Especially when you're short on corals. Link to comment
xmas_one
Some of the red macros look nice. Check out dragon's breath and dragon's tongue. I have both of you are interested. Link to comment
Azedenkae
Yeah I like red macro too. I have glacilaria (I think) and they look amazing. Link to comment
k4ndyk1ng
If you have a tang don't bother, I put some in my tank before I got my skimmer running and my tang got fat and I had no algae lol Link to comment
HVani
Urchins will also eat it, as well as some hermits This is my 8 gallon Link to comment
SchnauzerFace
I know caulerpa is not always popular, but I've had great success with red grape caulerpa in my tank for a couple years. One turbo snail got ahold of it and ate a TON of it, but I managed to keep at least a little of it alive until I could move the turbo. The shaving brush looks kind of cool, too, but mine doesn't grow particularly fast so I don't think it does much for nutrient export. Also, my urchin LOVED to pick it up and drag it around. That got old so I moved the shaving brush to the sump. Link to comment
paulrw
only fast growing algae will really help with nutrient export. cheato and caulerpas are best but usually a pain in the display. that being said fern caulerpa looks pretty sick when it fills in but needs to be harvested regularly.
