wide_eye_owl
A couple months ago I spotted an aquarium on the side of the road while I was walking to class. A written note attached to the aquarium indicated that it was leak free and free free. I decided against bringing the aquarium to class, it probably would have been a good conversation starter, but I did carry it home before class started. The aquarium was used to contain my dirty laundry for three months before I finally got motivated to start this project. I was also able to find a suitable stand in the attic of the home that I'm living in. Before I moved to Halifax I was maintaining a 75 gallon reef aquarium with all the bells and whistles. The equipment from that tank will be used for this build. It's going to be funny seeing an MP 40 and a 150 watt heater in a 20 gallon aquarium. I would like to cover the bottom of the aquarium with zoanthids and the rock work with LPS corals (Frogspawn is my favourite). I'll likely keep a small blenny and some clownfish. My current goal is to find some live rock and an LED light fixture. Phases and I are friends here in Halifax and it's going to be fun to see how both our builds progress! Link to comment
wide_eye_owl
1.1 Setup: Here is a picture of the aquarium and stand. Note the replacement laundry basket in the stand. Here is some wiring in the cabinet in the right side of the stand. It will get messier. The university I attend has some rock that I'm allowed to use. Some are artificially made some are dried coral. Some pieces had blue stains on them. I'm worried it might be copper. I put some of the rocks in a tank that has sea water flowing through it. Hopefully this leaches any contaminants out of the rocks and allows bacteria to inhabit them. Link to comment
Arce
Looks pretty cool, especially since you snagged it off the side of a road. Looking forward to see what you do with it. Link to comment
