LED suggestion!

Distance from light to top and bottom of tank is more important than wattage in determining intensity. Its physics.

Without that info, no one can give you reliable suggestions.

Also, in every thread on this forum, where someone asks this question, or one like it. There are like 10 just on this first page.

Someone will obviously suggest ReefBreeders lights. They are cheap, and good enough.

My questions are of you, are you not reading these ubiquitous threads, or do you think the posters are lying?

As stated above. If you want cheap and want LED go with a reefbreeders. While not the best, they are proven to work, have good customer service, and are dimmable so watts per gallon (which is a thing of the past BTW) is irrelevant. If you're not in the US,which judging by your tank measurements I'm assuming you're not, you can go with an evergrow fixture which is the same as the reefbreeders but with a slight different led selection.

1.st you got that info in my post. 2.nd. You have something usefull to say, post it, if not, stfu with such retarted comments, wise ass.

Its spelled retarded. Unless you're writing about pastries, http://bit.ly/1zwlDfS . snip, are you a baker, do you make pastries?

I will clarify.

I gave you the right answer, NO ONE can give you simple wattage information to determine intensity, without knowing the distance from the light to the tank top and the tank bottom.

It is IMPOSSIBLE to know that.

A single 3 watt royal blue LED can make a zoa polyp thrive if it's a centimeter away.

It's physics. It's called the Inverse Square Law http://bit.ly/TEHtoL . It governs light, gravity, magnetism, electromagnetic force, and most any other large force you can come up with, halitosis even.

Its so important, it's my signature. Posted every time I post. If I posted nothing more than a period, the post might have been useful to anyone short of a dimwit.

I then pointed you to the myriad plethora of threads on this first page for info about ReefBreeders LEDs lights http://bit.ly/1zwmnl9 . Effective, efficient, and economical. If you needed to actually put the spoon into your mouth like a baby, you should have said so. I assumed wrongly you were able to do the most minimal of research for yourself(like read the threads I told you about).

They are a sponsor of this fine board of information, btw.

Some people say its better to be a Wise ass than a dumb ass.

And IF Chris lets this thread stay, I will buy him one of these http://shop.lmgtfy.com/

Just let me know the size and color, Chris.

Notice how a better worded post does not resort to namecalling, or commands like, "GFY", for example.

devilier, tnx for your reply. So my distance is, like i wrote, 30cm from top to bottom of the glass, so a little less for the water, about 5cm. The light height is variable, i just lifted them a little. To see if that helps with the bleaching.

@farkwar, you are a troll. nobody likes trolls.

Watts isn't really the unit of measurement to consider when trying to figure how much light is going to be enough.

If I were to suggest a PAR type fixture, as the OP suggested...

This would be it

http://coralcompulsion.com/led/35w-18k-trucolor-par38

or

http://coralcompulsion.com/led/35w-22k-superblu-par38

Times two, at least. The dimensions of coverage are roughly 24"x12", three would be better.

For example,

I have two Kessil 350 wides over a 40B, thats 36" long...I'm cheaping out on that light, myself. There is strong shadowing on almost all of the acros, three Kessils would be better.

Snippy i can attest that fark is not a troll.

Much of the information he had given has in fact been correct.

He can have an abrasive personality though.

I'd do a 400w MH, supplemented with 4x T5HO..

snip, what's the budget?

I'd say do reefbreeders if trying to be frugal, if not I'd say go nanobox.

have you considered T5HO at all?

Well based on your initial response of calling him retarted (sic) I can't honestly say you're any less abrasive.

Not trying to start a fight, that's just my two cents.

Seriously though, reefbreeders.

Ever consider a DIY? My understanding, at least from hearing experienced LED guys like Jedimasterben talk, for 500.00 you could DIY a fixture that would be boss for that tank. Seems that in my research you can really do it easily, with basic knowledge, I think there are even some solderless kits out there?

I am trying to figure out a lighting choice for my tank as well, I love Radion and Nanobox, but either way I go with those options are gonna hit me for 1k-ish. I've also owned a Reefbreeder fixture, the controllable ones are pretty nice for the price, and they will get the job done. You could get a 32" Photon, controllable LED fixture for 450.00, in your budget and a decent fixture.

Good Luck!
