TEKWRX
I just got the media basket for my Coralife Biocube 29 today. The instructions say to cut the lip with a razor to allow the basket to fit if running the Tunze 9001. Is that necessary for proper operation? I'm asking because I just installed both and they seem to fit without any cutting, and I'm using the large water director. It's a tight fit, but it works. Is there any problem running it like this? Dramad1
Are you talking about the lil tab on the first baffle? I cut mine to fit the flow director. Got any pics of what you are talking about? I am not running the 9001 but I did cut the tab just so the flow director would sit flush with top of basket. I fit the director over the baffle and media basket wall and it kinda locks the basket into place so it will not tip or drift over in chamber 2. Link to comment
StevieT
That tab is for the Oceanic version Dramad they don't have one in the coralife BC29. Tunze recently updated the magnets on the 9001 and they are thinner. You may not need to cut the horizontal piece that the stock filter cartridge rested on anymore. If you have it in there with the longer water director all good in the hood. And much better for our customers. Or needing to make a cut. Thanks for letting us know we will test with a new unit Monday and update the site if needed. Link to comment

inTank
I have updated the website to note that no cutting may be required if you have 9001 with the thinner magnets. Over time we will update more as the thicker magnets fade from the shelves. Link to comment
J Fox
As my rock is getting closer to being ready to go in the tank, I have been starting to fit up my other parts. With 9001 in place the media basket just won't quite make it. It is so close, just don't want to have to jamb it in there. It appears that the skimmer is held away from 2nd and 3rd chamber divider just a small amount. So I will trim away the small tab on that side first and see how it goes. Link to comment
scubafrogman
Good to know that you don't have to use the magnet extender with the new magnets. I cut the tab in my BC29 because I have the extender on my Tunze 9001 magnet but I don't like it because it seems loose. Also it seems to make my media basket slanted as there is a tab at bottom of chamber 2 but none at the top since I cut it away. I'm going to try it without the extender. Thanks!Just wish my Tunze would foam more. Link to comment
