Radion + Apex for Pico?

What do you guys think about using one of the Radion XR15s on a fluval spec v? Or would radion xr30 have better coverage? I know its overkill but if I keep intensity down I think it would be awesome on my spec. Then I could use it on future tanks too if I upgrade. Thoughts?

Also thinking about an apex for it as well. Go big or go home... haha.

Apex I get, tho if your going to load it up with probes and the such it might get cluttered quickly. But a nano box would be a much better light for that tank IMO

Yeah thats what Im thinking after checking some prices. Apex jr sounds better dont need to monitor ph as i dont plan to dose my little pico.

Ive got the current marine but its not great for high light corals. I wish they would hurry up and release the pro model.

The Radion and NanoBox are both great lights and here is what i would do if i had the funds.

I would purchase the NanoBox Duo and run it at reduced power on the Spec V. It would give you the best color out there as well as great coverage for the near 20" Spec V.

When you decide to upgrade to a bigger tank (and you probably will), The Duo will give you full coverage for up to a 24" wide tank full of anything you would want to grow.

I would wait until this spring when fluval releases their new reef spec tank. Supposedly the included led will support sps and it's going to retail at about $100

Sometimes less is better....

Nano box, Current Orbit Marine LEDs, Par 38s.

Save your money, build another tank with the $1500.

Its still his money. If you plan to stick with a nano then by all means try different lights.

While I agree its still pricey for both.

Cameron - Just look up MACNA 2014 Overview videos on youtube of Mr Saltwater Tank in one of the episodes he meets with Francis from Fluval and they go over all the new stuff coming out in 2015.

Ya that's where I saw it. They look like awesome tanks. I will probably pick up the 12 gallon. I'm really curious to see if they will actually support sps though. The price makes it seem to good to be true.

If they are modeled after their new marine and reef led's I seriously doubt it they will be way too white of a spectrum also.

sorry, i had to :D

my vote goes to a nanobox, since it can translate from tank to tank better than whatever light will be built exclusively for the new spec.
