Posting in the classifieds

yep, minimum post count.

it keeps people from signing up just to sell or spam, the classified section is a benefit of being a contributing member - there are places like ebay or craigslist for folks that have no interest in the forum itself, it also helps to some extent in protecting buyers and sellers from dubious scamsters with no real history here.

at least that's the way I look at it.

15 VALID posts (most forums don't count "+1" or emoticons or "lol" as legitimate posts and take that into consideration)

see below for forum rules, copied from here:

The purpose of the classified forums are for hobbyists of our community to sell a few items to fellow members. It is not intended for the sale of items for profit. Businesses, formal or not, may not post in this forum. 'Want to buy' requests are permitted and should be prefixed with [WTB] in the topic title.

Examples of acceptable uses:
• Selling a used lighting system, pump, filter, aquarium, etc.
• Selling a few extra coral frags that you grew out in your aquarium.
• Selling a single piece of new equipment that you didn't need.
• Selling a few items you've built for fun, such as a canopy, reactor, skimmer.

Prohibited uses:
• Selling large quantities of corals, frags, "frag packs," or new equipment.
• Advertising items for sale at a business website.
• Advertising auctions (Unless it is your own personal eBay.com auction, and not a commercial listing).
• Posting items for sale on a daily or weekly basis, do not abuse this resource.

Group Buys:
• Group buys are not permitted unless the hosting vendor is a current Nano-Reef.com sponsor.

Guidelines For Posting:
• Community members must have at least 15 valid forum posts before participating in the classified forums.
• Prefix your topic titles with [FS] or [WTB] when selling or requesting an item, respectively.
• Include your general location in the Topic Title field when making a new listing (City, State)
• If your item is for local pickup only, include the words 'Local Only' in the Topic Title field along with your city and state.
• Clearly price your items for sale, listings with no price may be removed.

Postings that conflict with these rules will be removed at the discretion of the Nano-Reef.com staff, with or without notice. Forum access may be revoked at any time for rule violations.

Unsolicited negative or argumentative comments about items for sale, or prices of items, are not permissible. Violation of this rule may result in revocation of classified forum access, suspension of posting ability, or account suspension.

Users of the classified forums can choose for themselves what they are willing to pay, if you personally find something to be too expensive, move on. Arguing about a price is an unnecessary and unproductive point of conflict, and it brings down the level of discourse in this community.

Buyer Beware!
Use the classifieds at your own risk: research seller reputation and search for feedback in the Vendor & Trader Feedback forum.

If you feel a post is in violation of the Classifieds rules, please use the Report To Moderator link at the end of each post.
