So basically I got a Innovative Marine fusion 10 2 days ago. I set it up as soon as I get home using sand, live rock, and water from my 40 gallon that's been rock and fish Mainly. I took 5 gallons of water out and filled the rest up with fresh saltwater. So basically a 50% water change. Last night I checked my parameters and they were as followed:

Specific grabity: 1.024

Ammonia: 0ppm

Ph: 8.0

KH: 10

CA: 500

So basically those are numbers that moat refers would be satisfied with. Now what I'm wondering is if my tank would still need to cycle? I'm still planning to wait a week or 2 just for bacteria to start in the filters before I add my skimmer. Has anyone tried this before and been able to go without the regular style cycle?

Sorry guys I'm actually thinking I'll put this post in general. I was doing some thinking and 10 gal is more nano than pico. According to most haha. If a moderator feels necessary to delete this thread that's understandable.
