Tk97
Hey guys I'm new to this forum and i just wanted to get your imput on my 10 gallon tank that im setting up. Ive had a saltwater tank before but it was a 30 gallon with mostly fish (few zoa's+star polyps). That was 5 years ago and i want to get back into saltwater. I love the way xenia pulse and i really want a tank mostly dedicated to them. I was thinking of using a 10 gallon with approx the right 1/4 of the tank divided by a hamburg matten filter (something i picked up from freshwater tanks). The filter would be powered by a 130gph pump, and would also house the heater. For light i have a 12'' finnex planted+ led, which has a spectrum designed for freshwater but its still very bright. need be i have a few blue stunner strips lying around. As far a livestock, i dont really want any fish, maybe a shrimp or two (probably sexy shrimp) and a good amount of xenia. Just wanted some opinions on the setup, thanks Link to comment
Chad Walters
Should work out, I don't know about the planted LED though. Usually they are a lower kelvin rating than we like our reefs. The stunner strips would help but IMO the LED might sustain but not produce great growth. You could always attempt it and see how Xenia does since it is fairly inexpensive and in abundance in most tanks. If it doesn't look so hot upgrate your lighting then. Just my .02. Link to comment
Tk97
Thanks, I'm pretty sure it's got 10000k white LEDs so I'm hoping it'll be fine Link to comment
ndrobey
Clownfish will often host in xenia, if you decide on a fish. Link to comment
Tk97
I'm also looking for a Xenia that doesn't have a long "trunk". I'm trying to get something like a carpet of Xenia, not a few jutting individuals. Any species suggestions? Link to comment
mattyfelts
i dont like the idea of a clown in a 10, also the planted plus will probably grow alot of algae. Link to comment
