Help me figure this out

Ok so I let me tank go for 6 days and did not test, original levels are as follows

ALK-8.6

CAL-450

MAG-1350

After 6 days levels are as follows

ALK-7.7

CAL-410

MAG-1290

How do I go about maintaining original levels on auto doser from bulkreefsupply, they dose at 1.1ml per minute. I have a apex but its too complicated to set it up right now so I am using digital timers.

You can get some tubing partially pinch it and siphon it slowly from bottle to tank, calculate the amount you need first though.

He said he has an auto doser. Why would he pinch a line and use a siphon?

What size tank? (water volume not tank volume) It's just some math - figure out how much your tank lost, calculate your two part addition necessary per day, and then use 1.1ml/minute to figure out how long to leave it turned on every day

just suggesting a cheaper alternative.

+1, just plug the numbers in... BRS has calculators for this.

Example - Calcium.

Enter 95 gallons for tank volume, 450 as the desired level, and 410 as the current level. The calculator says you need to add 389ml of their calcium additive to the tank to get back to 450ppm. So 389ml / 6 days = about 65ml per day usage. So 60 minutes give or take of dosing per day at 1.1ml/min. Note that the calculator is for BRS products. Follow dosing instructions on the particular product you're using. I just assume you use BRS products since you bought their doser.

You'll then want to test and adjust. I doubt you actually have 95 gallons in your system unless you've already accounted for water level in the tank/sump and rocks.

ok so for calcium I come up with 307 ml I need, which I would divide by 6 which would equal 51, 51ml is what I need daily correct. So my pumps would run for 51 minutes then turn off?

51/1.1=46.3636. So throughout the day, your pump can run as many times as 46, or you can break it up into 2 minute intervals for 23 times for two minutes, and so on. I would probably space it out 23 times for 2 minutes over 24 hours to keep it consistant.

Sorry if this is a repeat, I didn't read all the posts, but Bulk Reef Supply has a dosing calculator. All you need is your parameters and your tank size and your done.
