andiok
what do you guys think of doing a ato with float valves instead of electric float switch. this one i was looking at. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mini-1-2-Size-Plastic-Adjustable-Float-Valve-fr-Aquarium-Reverse-Osmosis-System-/271490032131?tfrom=271278325714&tpos=top&ttype=price&talgo=undefined how many of you use the ro/di float valves for top offs in their systems? thx Link to comment
AZDesertRat
The biggest issues with float valves are they short cycle leading to TDS creep issues and short DI life and the reliability. The float has such a short range between OFF and ON it starts and stops frequently. If it is hooked to a RO/DI this causes TDS creep. If it is just hooked to a RO/DI storage container its not such a big deal. Float valves can fail since they are a relatively inexpensive mechanical device and when they do it floods your system with fresh water driving the salinity down and can cause a flood. How many toilet floats or evaporative cooler floats have you seen leak or replaced? Two float switches and a solenoid valve are more reliable when hooked to a RO/DI. They can be set a distance apart so the ON and OFF are less frequent and they provide a positive shutoff. Link to comment
