New build all in one system refugium / sump questions

hi guys,

Ive recently had an offer accepted on a house, and naturally my first thought was about upgrading my reef for the new lounge!

I want to build an all in one unit due to spacing issues and have spoken with Birmingham aquariums (they have been fantastic btw, highly recommend) about building a 24X24X24" rimless cube with a false back with 3 chambers, one for skimmer and heaters, a fuge for live rock and cheato and one for the return pump.

Im a little confused when it comes to the setup as i've never run a sump before, let alone an internal one and information on this is hard to come by.

my main question at the moment is what flow rate the return pump should be? is this where the majority of my flow should come from, or is this just a smaller pump to move water through the chambers, and the majority of my flow should come from powerheads?

what should this flow rate be? the total water volume will be 226 liters, (170ltr display and 56ltr sump section)

any help will be greatly appreciated, and im sure i will have a million more questions to follow.

cheers

we actually have a subforum dedicated to "all-in-one" style tanks. not uncommon at all. I'd start there and see what people are doing with their back chambers.

the majority of your flow should come from powerheads, not the return pump.
