jinx
Working on a little something for the wife and I really do mean little! Still a work in progress. Running three 3w LEDs dimmed slightly, two blue, one white. Built a little air powered sponge filter for it. Next I need to clean up the silicone and paint a small section of the rear. jinx
Can't decide whether or not to do it as a reef or planted freshwater... Link to comment
Deadeye
That is pretty cool. How much water does it hold? What would you put in the reef? Link to comment
jinx
That is pretty cool. How much water does it hold? What would you put in the reef? Holds a quart with nothing in it. Not sure, probably soft stuff and a couple dwarf ceriths. Link to comment
jinx
Back is now painted and I added some sand to see how it flows. Right now the LEDs are hobbled together just for testing. I'm likely going to add a few more, maybe a red and green to the mix. I need to find a nice looking round heat sink that will blend nicely with the lid. Link to comment
jinx
I salted it with water from my 75g I also tossed in a tiny tiny frag of GSP that I found rolling around in the 75g. Curious to see how they respond to the lights. Link to comment
Sunstar
This is adorable and inspiring <3 Link to comment

jinx
Fill it up with crap from the 75 I doubt any sps would enjoy life in there, but I do have some zoa's that I can add to it. Thinking about building a dew heater for it. It drops temp like crazy at night, almost 20°, not good... Link to comment
k4ndyk1ng
my sps have been very good to me and very hardy Link to comment
SiRhk
That is really neat!! I love it. I would make a zoa garden if I could make one for me. Link to comment
jinx
A cheap heating element used for keeping telescopes from building up humidity. Can be made using resistors on the cheap. Link to comment
jinx
The lid I'm using kind of sucks and is allowing a bunch of salt creep to happen. It came from my sons broken Tornado Tube as shown. Fits snug, but needs a gasket. Link to comment
jinx
Picked this up at HD earlier to rebuild with proper 3w LEDs. I already have a gooseneck for it too Time to remove some SMDs. I may build a light controller for it using arduino bits.. Link to comment
Fnard
Was concerned about the salt creep with the bubble action when I first saw this. Maybe switch out the air pump for a small fountain pump for circulation? Plus could help with heat. Nice build though. Link to comment
jinx
No room for a internal pump. This thing is super tiny. My hand doesn't even fit in it. Link to comment
Sunstar
I have a pump htat is barely 1 inch by 1.5 inch. It basically takes an airline tube easily en ough Link to comment
jinx
I love when things work out perfectly!! I still have more to unsolder. Just assembled it to help keep the SMD's tight on the heat sink while the adhesive sets. Thinking I'll have 3 channels on it. Link to comment
jinx
Tedious work with the blues which have uber tiny contact pads and I don't have a uber tiny soldering tip handy. It isn't pretty, but it works! You won't see this anyways. Link to comment
