RonLarimer
I decided I couldn't handle the mesh top that came with the Innovative Marine Fusion 40. My choices seemed to be either egg crate or some acrylic top. I decided that the egg crate wouldn't impact my evaporation and my young blenny could still probably make it through so I went with a solid acrylic top. It is .22" thick, cost right at $20 and was complete with just 2 cuts of the circular saw. Then to make it easier to remove I drilled 2 finger holes and added grommets to finish it and add a little thickness too dissuade any jumpers. What do you think? Link to comment
chazde3
Looks good. I can't stand the mesh tops those tanks come with. Link to comment
rocksmom
Looks good, just be mindful of bowing or it might end up in your tank. Probably a good idea to flip it every so often. Link to comment
NYfishies
You remove it every time you feed? Also, does condensation build up? I too would like to replace the cheap looking mesh lid. Link to comment

I too would like to replace the cheap looking mesh lid.It depends on what I'm feeding... pellets no.Yes condensation builds up... That is actually the point as I'm trying to slow water loss. Looks good, just be mindful of bowing or it might end up in your tank. Probably a good idea to flip it every so often.I think I want to try to get an extra clip or two for that reason. Chief Reefer
From the pic it looks like it is already bowing. I had a lid like this years ago on one of my tanks. It bowed to the point where it was touching the water, and it was a much smaller than the one you made. I would either A - make it with like .25 or thicker acrylic, or B - make a lid out of glass. Gamby
Do you feel that the condensation effects your lighting at all? Looks like you are using a nano-box, can I ask which one? How do you like it? Link to comment

It wasn't strong enough when I put it on and I would have made it out of .5" acrylic if they had it. I think it will be ok if I can source another plastic clip, otherwise I will likely go back to a screen and just deal with the evaporation. Do you feel that the condensation effects your lighting at all? Looks like you are using a nano-box, can I ask which one? How do you like it? Yes there is far more reflection, which means that light isn't making it into the tank. On the flip side I am running a nano-box which could bleach out anything in the tank if I wanted... so I could easily adjust. The lone torch in the tank actually appears happier since I added the lid, which makes me think I had the lights too bright to begin with. Link to comment
12_egg_Omelette
That's pretty sweet, I'm going to an open top on my nano and I wish I had the tools to create a top like that for my 12 gallon nano cube. Link to comment
umax5555
Did you drill any vent holes in the lid? Link to comment
