kinetic
It's been awhile, but planning on jumping back into the hobby with an ELOS Mini. Shopping around for a good light solution, and just love the way the Nano Box looks. Seems like it provides some serious performance as well. Would the Tide be good enough? Or should I go for some of the bigger ones? Tank will be about 17"x17" and 16" tall. Link to comment

I would be proud for you to use one of my lights. The Mini Tide with Storm would do the job however I think the Duo would be the better fit. -Dave Link to comment
jolee0722
A duo diagonally hanging from a light bar would look really nice on that tank Link to comment
Paleoreef103
I'd go with a duo, but if your idea of with SPS is a few colonies directly underneath the array then a single one would work. Personally, I'd go with a duo for more even coverage and guaranteed performance. Link to comment
kinetic
You guys are the best. Really appreciate all the responses! Nothing for sure yet, but my plans for the SPS in the tank is kind of extreme. I will probably only have 1 piece of sps, right in the middle of a tank, on a pretty small rock. It will probably be something like a hawkins echinata, or some other branching SPS (not tabling or stag). I just want to let it grow on it's own in a very minimalistic way. So maybe the Tide would be a good look to accompany the single coral in the middle. If I end up not being so ridiculous, I have no qualms with ordering a Duo to replace the Tide if I have more things to light up. Link to comment
Spiderguardnano
Just get the duo and not worry about getting another light later Link to comment

Goby74
I've got an Elos mini with the Nanobox mini and my LPS/SPS are doing amazing!!! Link to comment
kinetic
Oh awesome to hear! Thanks so much for your thoughts! I like how small it is and would look. Also, goodness, your signature has so many huge photos, very impressive. I'm not sure, but you might like BMW's. The M4 in white looks pretty saucy. Have one of those? I'm actually an Audi fan, though more so because I love AWD and it photographs nicely in my subjective views. Always wanted an E92 m3 though. Goby74
Kinetic, here's a link to my intro page and if you read through the threads you'll see photos of my Elos http://www.nano-reef.com/topic/355281-just-wanted-to-introduce-myself/ Yes those are all my BMWs Link to comment
brad908
goby74 - you need to edit your signature, it is ridiculous. If the tank was 18x18 I would have said a diagonal 24" quad like I did. But def go with a duo Link to comment
NanoClown
Looks like somebody bit the bullet and came back to the hobby! I missed you man, we're gonna have to get lunch sometime and chat it up! Link to comment
kinetic
Always so good to see familiar faces. This is truly a wonderful community to come back to. If not for the corals, for the friends. Lunch sounds good! We'll catch up soon. Looks like somebody bit the bullet and came back to the hobby! I missed you man, we're gonna have to get lunch sometime and chat it up! Link to comment
GHill762
that kind of praise from dave I had to check out your tanks, couldn't see any pics on the finnex but that elos 120 in your sig is straight sexy Link to comment
kinetic
That Dave, always such a nice guy, always flattering. Thanks man, the ELOS was beautiful, but I had a lot of bad luck with it. Never seemed to get it dialed in just right. My Finnex, with such little work and being an AIO did so much better somehow. I'll take it super slow this time. First the light, then the tank I guess that kind of praise from dave I had to check out your tanks, couldn't see any pics on the finnex but that elos 120 in your sig is straight sexy Link to comment
samuelhorn
Did you end up with the elos & nanobox mini? I'm thinking of a Red Sea Reefer nano (18"x18"x18") and want to get a nanobox mini for that, since it feels kind of odd both looks and light spread wise with a long light over a cube tank. But I'm worried it's not enough. But at the same time, people are running one kessil a160 over bigger cubes than that so I guess It will work. Just so few examples of a cube this size with a mini. I mean a duo is like a mini in the short direction, so why shouldn't a mini work right? Link to comment

While I could not grow SPS all over it worked just fine with the other species. A DUO would be a long term investment if you ever upgrade. Simple as that! -Dave Link to comment
