nemonlizzy
So I've had this pair for a little while now, somewhere around 6-8 months and I've kept them specifically for breeding. I recently got my first spawn off of them on December 25th. The larvae hatched around January 2nd. Standard 8 day incubation period and all the larvae came off the rock. I estimated around 100 eggs. A little low for this species but I wasn't complaining. Here's the weird part, The female just spawned again, two days after her first fry hatched. NOW, I'm happy, there's around 200-250 eggs this time. Still, can someone explain the abnormal proximity of these two spawnings? I'm feeding a simple diet of Ocean Nutrition Formula One Pellets once per day and then I vary between Mysis Shrimp, Spirulina Enriched Brine, and H2O Life Fish and Reef #2. Not a very sophisticated diet. Can someone explain? Here is the very proud mother And the best shot of the clutch I could get (I'm using a crappy camera phone) Link to comment
US Marine Coral
Congrats on the pair spawning. They are beautiful. Regarding your question, most of my pairs lay a new nest either 2 or 3 days after the eggs have hatched so it's pretty normal. Good luck with the eggs and please post pics of the babies as they mature. Link to comment
nemonlizzy
In my time working at ORA, the clowns of almost all species would spawn every 21-25 days. This is why I'm confused. I am no expert, I just remember what I worked with. Link to comment
US Marine Coral
Spawning every 21-25 days sounds a little long to me. The Ocellaris and Percula pairs I have been working with for the last 7 years have spawned every 10-14 days. I run my broodstock systems a little on the warmer side to speed up the cycle. I run a Facebook group called Clownfish Breeding USA. Come check it out and share your clowns when you have a chance. We have almost 1,200 members dedicated to helping and sharing their experiences with clownfish breeding. Link to comment

nemonlizzy
I'm just waiting for the clutches to increase in size before I start collecting them. Right now they're only around 5-6 hundred and I haven't set up the grow out yet. Not eeven sure if I will. If a buyer is interested let me know. Link to comment
