Holes in toadstool?

I have a green polyping toadstool leather, it has been in the same place and near the same corals for a while. No changes in water quality or any major changes to the tank but it has developed some small holes in different locations. I blew off the top of the toadstool and in all the holes with a powerhead to look for possible intruders and found nothing. The coral is still open daily with full polyp extension, I caused it to close for the below pictures. Any thoughts on what this could be?

You should check the trunk for signs of leather eating parasites. They usually make holes and live inside them, slowly eating the coral from the inside. Google should help identify the bastards for you. Other than that if some concentrated kalk or alk supplement fell on it, could have burned the flesh.

hmmm... thanks I'll have to look into that. I wonder if its the same stuff for like freshwater fish with tail rot or a different variation.

is it possibly stress induced? the toadstool is in very close proximity to my acan...

sweet thanks, well small modification to the rockwork to make a little more room between acan and toadstool and a dip in some melafix in the near future and hopefully problem solved.
