Good in summer but not good at all in winter but an awesome place to visit, if you want to see some cool stuff go to Stewart island in November to see the giant hermit crabs going out to sea to give birth

or dive around the coast of the north island to see the rare temprate Black coral

Wet and cold and the wind never stops, the water is also too cold for diving

 

Sometimes ice bergs will float past from Antarctica

What's the usual air temperatures, there is a great absence of the continental effect seen in northern areas so it should be warmer than the north areas of opposite latitude.

 

How big of bergs?

In winter around 9 degreese Celsius and down to -4 the bergs are fairly small but large enough for helicopters to land on

My winters are colder staying usually at -4°C and many times colder than that. I hate cold weather lol

 

That must be quite a sight to see lol
