R1sky_Biz
Was doing some reading and YouTube watching today and ran across Chemi Pure Elite. From what I can tell, it is a mixture of GFO and Carbon. I now that you shouldnt tumble carbon in a reactor because it will produce fines etc but I know you are supposed to tumble GFO.. Does anyone have experience using this product on a Nano? Link to comment
davidncbrown
I suggest doing a search on the forums on your own first. Plenty of information out there ;-). Chemi pure comes in a fine mesh bag. Just place it somewhere that gets good water flow through it and reposition it a couple times a week to keep from getting any dead spots in it. Link to comment

GFO is tumbled so it doesn't turn into a brick... however, mixing it with carbon also keeps it from turning into a brick. I personally don't care for chemi pure elite. I used to use it but its soooo dusty.. discovered other carbons don't have this problem so now I just mix my own. Many people use it successfully though.... just be ready to wash the heck out of it. R1sky_Biz
Are you using them in the same reactor? I've seen some people do that with the GFO tumbling on the bottom with the carbon packed tight up top. Is that what you're saying @tamberav? What reactor are you using? Link to comment

I use them in the same reactor, but I MIX them together in a bowl and tightly pack them in. GFO does not need to tumble if mixed with carbon as long as you don't go higher than 50% GFO. The carbon will keep it from becoming a brick. At right around 2 min in: Link to comment

You do not put Chemi-Pure in a reactor as it's already in a mesh bag, and meant to be used in a passive application. In regards to running GFO and Carbon in the same reactor, it wouldn't be my first option. However, if you want to do it, as you mentioned, the GFO should not be packed tightly as it needs to tumble, but only slightly. The carbon needs to be packed tightly between one or two sets of sponges to prevent carbon particulate from flying all over your tank. You can use just about any reactor, just find one thats a suitable size for your tank. Link to comment
