I personally changed it every 6-8 weeks depending on levels in my tank and if I was getting algae growth on my glass. IMO, CPE is easily replaced by carbon and GFO. I found BRS Rox carbon with RowaPhos gave me the same if not better results. Using your own carbon and GFO mix is easily obtained and costs lest long term if you change frequently. Finally, CPE is chemical filtration right? Link to comment
