APLATN13's IM Fusion Micro 30L Build - Aquascape In Progress Page 4

APLATN13

Recommended Posts

Well, my boys got me this for Christmas! The tank showed up on Christmas Eve but the stand did not. Which is kinda odd as Aquarium Specialty sent the tank, stand and skimmer at the same time. Anyways, the stand should arrive this afternoon. I can't wait to put it all together and have it running. I will update this OP as much as I can but lets get to the pics.

Un-boxing from Main Box.

Not bad Packaging from Aquarium Specialty.

As you can see the box has been open to be inspected. (Original Tape Seal been Tampered)

Opened the Box and saw the Skim-Mate in the tank wrapped in Bubble Wrap.

Tank out of the Box and Arrived safely with minor flaws...

Skim-Mate (Hopefully, Aquarium Specialty let me exchange for an IM Reactor 7301)

Hello Anthony. I'm sorry about the stand. You posted in my thread and I wanted to post in yours and first say congrats on the IM tank and diving into this fun/addicting hobby! I am very OCD (Prior military), so I strive for perfection. I purchased my tank and stand from BRS and although the boxes were unscathed, I also had issues with the tank and stand.

The tank, had 2 little chips in the front glass  that I actually never saw, until I went over the tank with a fine tooth comb, but that was after I had started to cycle the tank. I guess I was just a little to eager, and should have taken the time to look before I got it wet. Anyway, my stand also had a few dings and chipped edges. The front left panel had some dents that can't really be seen unless you put your face right up to it. I was able to heat iron/steam it out so I can barely see it now.

I had some chips in the press board like your second to last picture, but with a little acrylic paint, it is not noticeable. Like I said, I am very OCD, but have learned to live with the imperfections. The chips in the glass, have some swirl marks also, as the IM tech was trying to buff it out during inspection I guess, but did a worse job then leaving it alone. Again, the swirls/chips are barely noticeable unless the light hits it at a certain angle. I thought it was more of a pain to drain the tank and wait for a replacement. I did call IM though and sent pictures, and they did send me more then enough goodies to compensate for my tank issues.

Anyway, I hope you get your issues worked out. IM is a great Company and took care of me with my tank. Good luck, and I will follow to see your tank progress!!! Happy New Year!

Thanks for the input! :D Michael from Aquarium Specialty just emailed me on their day off! Hopefully, we can get this resolved ASAP.

I decided to semi install the stand up to see where the damages will be shown. From the pics below its not even worth putting together... :/

Called Aquarium Specialty today and talked to them about my stand. Seems like they have one more in-stock and gonna open it to see there isn't anything damage on that stand before shipping out the replacement. Hopefully, all is well, I want to set this up NOW! The temptation is so bad right now...

I have repackaged the stand and is ready for pickup!

Chips with swirls?????!!!!! I would send that sucker right back. Do you read all the problems reported here with IM glass failures. Sure the new fusion series is supposed to be O.K. but with their track record, I'd be terrified those little chips could turn into a complete failure!

I'm looking at replacement tanks as we speak because I am terrified of my IM 16 Nuvo.

Don't remind me. These past few days I been reading about IM failures and that worries me about my 30L! :( Hopefully, there is no issues with the 30L and problem free.

I'm in the same boat. I've read all about the failures and was freaking out as well. Definitely hope they fixed it with the Fusion series!!

My hubby gave me the go ahead on replacing the Nuvo time bomb with a Biocube...still researching...but think I may do it. I'll get 15 more gallons at least. And for a decent price $404 with stand online, while if I stay with IM it'll be MUCH more. And should I stick with them when I know the reputation??? And since mine has not actually cracked yet, they wouldn't do much for me...I'd have to pay for the upgrade.

Stevie says Biocube is reliable even with the bent glass.

Well, its been one week from the original delivery date of the Stand and nothing. I would expected more effort in making contact with me and give me updates on the new stand. I have sent Michael @ Aquarium Specialty 2 emails since our phone call conversation Monday! For my friends spending $928 and $54 for oversize shipping charges would expect better service. I know it was the holidays and all but at-least reply to emails and let me know what is going on...

They have lost me on future orders (I was planning on getting some Bio-Tek Marine Aquascape.) It is really sad to not get the service your friends paid for...

*rant over*

My order from inTank and BRS that I placed 12/26/14 has arrived! :D

Biocube is nice, but I wanted a Long Version tank. From what I have seen and heard the Fusion Series fix most of the issues and is much nicer then before. Which is nice and hopefully hold up well.

Michael @ Aquarium Specialty told my friend to call him back tomorrow to see the status of the new stand. Apparently, they haven't ship a replacement yet and waiting to receive the damage one back. This could be days or weeks to come :( It has been almost 1 week since UPS has picked up the Damage Stand. They should have shipped the replacement stand ASAP when I called them last week.

Well my friend made it home after coming back from Houston, Tx picking up my corals for me and acclimated in his tank until my 30L is up and running...
