growing macrofeast in the display?

I want a scribbled rabbit fish for my 85. I was thinking about maybe growing some macrofeast (from reefnutrition) in the display because I have no fuge in my sump. Any luck with this?

 

How fast would a rabbitfish destroy this stuff? Or should I consider growing it in a acclimation chamber in the tank?
