zzx6rpezza
So i took the plunge ane entered the sumped world. I have a tank now but its a coloum setup with a canister filter and a aquaclear 500 made into a hang on fuge.. So ill be moving from that 37 gallon tp my new 50 gallom rimless. Tthere isnt alot of feedback on forums on the sca line of pnp tanks. So im hoping to help aid someone looking to buy one but hasnt yet. I hovered fourms for months till i came across this one, and it had the best build on this tank to date. I read it nightly and decided to make the plunge just so happened at 4am that night i did. Amazon put one on sale for 599$ so i opened a card with thwm and bougjt it to have 12 months no apr. Tank says its due in thursday of this week. So ill post how the shipper was etc. So far bougjt and going in the tank is 50 pounds of pink fiji sand 60 lbs of live rock from macrorocks.com Jbj auto top off unit used off ebay for 30$ 2 jabeo rw-4 wireless new model pumps Herbie overflow mod Evo 3 watt led fuge light Dj power strip 8 switched ports 2 reactors diy from the fourm i read here And im going to mod the sump alittle bit. I do have a few questions if anyone can help this is my first sump. Ive read a ton of forums nightly and still dont know.. What do i put in a fuge. I know deep sand bed. And pods cheato. Sailfish
Sweet looking tank! Very close to the dimensions of my next setup. I don't have any experience with sumps or refugiums yet, but from what I have read I would use EcoSystem Miracle Mud instead of a DSB. This refugium is the most breathtakingly beautiful I know of (uses Miracle Mud): This video is also a good refugium info vid: Link to comment
zzx6rpezza
Thanks i watched the videos and did a ton of research on the miracle Mud i bought 10lbs just now thanks so much!! Also in thoes videos the fuge is so simplifyed and beautiful. I cannot wait. Any links or info on your tank how is it setup w.o a fuge. Mine i waterchange 2 times a week Link to comment

ReviloM
Good job choosing the SCA. I currently have the cube as well but had the 65G in the past. The tank is great and at a magnificent price for everything that comes with it. One thing I do want you to know is that the "fuge" area is sorta small and will have very little impact on nutrients in your tank. You would pretty much need the entire sump filled with chaeto to make some kind of impact. You can click the link in my sig for some images of the tank. Good luck with your build. Link to comment
zzx6rpezza
My tank is due in at 1pm today im so excited my bf doesnt even understand lol. Thank you for all the info im following you build and im going to mod the sump for a bigger fuge i cannot wait to get my hands dirty and my girls are excited that i can stop buying pods every 4 days and extend that to a bi weekly dosing Link to comment

zzx6rpezza
Ok so tomorrow my jabeo rw4 pump is due in Tuesday my ai hydra 26s light with ext. Mount is due in and ai director Tomorrow my west marine culture live sand is due in along woth my macro live rock.... I took my time it took me 6 hrs to set up the tank. Why you may ask i went slow and used contractors glue to help aid the stand in a more permanent form lol. So ill start off woth saying shipping was top notch i tipped the driver 10$ and he helped me bring it inside with my bf. Well i watched. Them after he helped put it down stairs and all! Loved him. So i took a ton of pics and i started modding the sump im trying to make a bigger fuge area while keeping the pump seperate. Hey if it doesnt work i can always return it back to stocl. Im using spare glass from a 10 gallon tank i broke apart. Tank is nice and setup its quite sharp amazing quality the glass work etc but. The bulk heads and pvc pipes they supply are metric....from china.... They will not fit anything we have here so i had to buy a new one.......that ticked me off. Second the instructions well the picture realy doesnt help so take your time and think ahead.. Tomorrow will be sump install plumbing then get her wet. Then drain add sand then rodi water Stay Tuned Sump mod My rooms a mess i cant wait to finish this setup and put it all back Link to comment
ReviloM
Nice. I see everything arrived safely. Why didn't you have them to assemble it before shipping? That option was available for free on the Amazon store. You just had to tell them in the comments of your order. I did and it saved me a lot of time and headaches. Also, that's odd that other bulkheads won't fit for you. I changed both bulkheads with threaded ones. I used the kits by LifeAquatics. Link to comment
zzx6rpezza
I didnt know that!?!?! Weasel Baron
so just a point of interest, but bio-balls arent your best option for bacterial filtration. Id stick with the ceramic or just plain LR. Bioballs dont have the denitrifying bacteria that live deep inside LR, which turn nitrates to nitrogen gas. The bioballs also tend to gather detritus and just turn into nitrate factories other than that, the tank is looking great! excited to see how it the scape looks when it clears up! Link to comment
zzx6rpezza
Thanks for the heads up can i take them out and put just live rock there and a filter sock well its going ok battling plumbing leaks ammonia os at .25 nitrates 10 and nnitrites 0 ph 8.4 im alittle afraid i was told to wait it out for bacteria to wake up and eat the ammonia... Im sketchy on that i have been so busy with my son and the holidays i wasnt able to update butttttf i got it done and pics are here Scape is still not done i have the left sode clift epoxy drying and i drilled rock and put acrylic rods to hold it im building it in a u shape.
