Jsheffield85
So I have a algae problem. Think it's GHA but not sure, I am currently at work so I can't test my water but this has been slowly building in my tank. I use nutri seawater for my water changes and too off with rodi (it's only a 6 gallon tank) only livestock I have are coral banded shrimp, 2 scarlet hermits, zoas, blasto, Duncan, Xenia and few mushrooms. The shrimp gets fed 2-3 times a week. Only filter media I run is phosguard and a sponge for any big stuff, any ideas why I'm having this issue? My light schedule is 1230-7pm it's a custom led light on a dim4. Better pic Link to comment
shawnriv
It looks like hair algae. I would first guess it would be over-feeding, but if you're only feeding twice a week I guess it wouldn't be that. Are you feeding the tank with anything else? It could also be the live rock you're using and it may have pests or algae. I always start tanks with dry rock to make sure there isn't any hitchhikers or cause any algae problems. Link to comment
Jsheffield85
Not feeding anything else. Could be the live rock but I know a few people who use this rock, and the lfs it came from is a pretty good store. You hand pick your rock out of a tub in the store and it doesn't have any algea growth in the tub. I'm gonna cut down the light sched for a bit and see what happens. Only hitchhikers I see are a few asterinas. Link to comment
