moviepastor
Anyone done a Petco "Preferred" "Cubic 3.7"? Curious about specs on built in light and filter and what mods would be required for a pico reef? i need something to do at work to break the monotany. I have 3 large tanks at home. Had a 10 gal nano. this would be first pico. Thanks Link to comment

GHill762
I've stopped buying things at Petco. They do more harm than good for this hobby, IMO. Buzz that's a bit harsh. I think there are a handful of petco retail locations that are making a bad name for the company overall. my local petco is certainly a nice store with very good staff, I don't have a single bad word to say about them. the company itself is trying to be good for the pet world, they really are trying to be a good company, why all the hate? to the OP, I don't know what kind of filter that has but on a <5g tank, filters aren't really that important. All you really need is circulation, heat, quality live rock, and a decent light. The included light is probably pretty poor both in wattage and spectrum, the easiest and cheapest fix would be an LED Par bulb, and an alternative top-shelf option would be a nanobox light. have a look at the fluval spec tanks, they seem to be a favorite in the sub-10g size.. hahahohol
If i would do a second Pico, I would use Cubic 3.7. I've read that their light should be feasible for soft corals... And i believe that people used it before for pico tanks. My vote is Go for it... and post some pic. Link to comment
