I have been raising seahorse fry that were born Oct. 29th. I have 17 left of the 22 I kept, (I gave some away). I noticed the last few days that the biggest and most robust is developing cirri, (the filamentous tissue that look like twigs growing on the face and backs of some seahorses). It is not common in H erectus and most likely my fry will not keep his admired hairdoo into adulthood. Still it's kind of cool. I will try and get a pic when it grows some more and the cirri will show up.

oh pics! I love the cirri and once I give in to buying a seahorse, that's definitely one of my criteria.

I like it too but I did not make it a criteria with my purchases because I knew in lined seahorses it usually disappears when they enter adulthood. I did just read that probably both genetics, (a predisposition toward cirri) and enviroment both may play a part in a frilly pony. I am thinking a tank with a lot of macro algae could encourage it.
