CrazyEyes
Any suggestions on how high to mount the light? The optics on the prime are 80 degrees, tank is 20x15x20. Link to comment
jedimasterben
As with all lights, at least 8" above. Play around with it from there. Link to comment
CrazyEyes
Its fixed to the light bar, which is non adjustable so I need to get it right the first time. Unless I can figure out a way to adjust the height of the light bar while the tank is running. Link to comment
CrazyEyes
Had to trim up the acrylic for the bottom, got it sliconed down. Got the light mounted. I was going to paint the sides so you can't see in the back of the AIO but I found a place that sells just the vinyl they use for stickers. Now I literally just have to fix one thing on the light mount and I'm going to fill it up. Link to comment
CrazyEyes
Still need to remove the end parts of the light hanger, take some neverdull to the light hanger because shiny is nice, then clear coat it. Link to comment
lilmatty5dimes
A drilled solana w/overflow kit. If its in good shape I'd buy it in a second.Yea really nice shape. Starphire glass didn't see any scratches. Link to comment
CrazyEyes
If it was me I'd already have it lol. I wish my solana had starfire. Link to comment
CrazyEyes
I had the lights in the apartment off messing with the different colors when my g/f goes, check out the carpet. Pretty cool, reminds me of pink floyd. Link to comment
CrazyEyes
I did the best I could to keep the wires as tidy as possible. Think I might push it against the wall today and get some water in it. Link to comment
CrazyEyes
And then this happened. Link to comment
jedimasterben
So you haven't even used the Prime and already want to get rid of it? Link to comment
NirvanaandTool
Water! Looking good. Makes me miss my old Solana, but this is better cause I had the old discoball MH on there. LEDs > discoball. Link to comment

CrazyEyes
While I wait for this thing to cycle and do it's thing I made a mount for my friend's hydra. He bought the hydra and ext rail from a local member. Only issue with the ext rail is it's made to mount the light wrong way so I came up with this idea. We used some 3/4" x 3/4" aluminum angle, 10-32 x 2" screws, aluminum spacers (#6 x 3/4" I think). We also attached this piece of 3/4" aluminum bar to the front of the light to add some contrast between black and silver. Link to comment
CrazyEyes
Bored and I figured out how to upload videos so here is a short clip, those mp10s at 1:10 lol. New wetsides and QD drivers coming soon. Link to comment
CrazyEyes
Last picture of this thing cycling. Next pics it will have something with a heartbeat in it. Link to comment
CrazyEyes
Tank has been running for almost weeks. Had the water tested, everything was at zero except nitrates were around 2-4 ppm. With that said, I saw a really nice pair of mocha clowns, I've wanted mochas for awhile. This pair was swimming with each other at the LFS so I went ahead a bought them bought. Acclimating them. . Swimming together and checking out their new home. . Link to comment
CrazyEyes
Got a quick video of the clowns. They really do seem to be doing really well, just starting to swim around even more and explore the tank, but they do it together. I know clowns usually aren't finicky eaters but I'm still glad they're eating without any issues. Link to comment
CrazyEyes
Going through an ugly stage , I never cleaned the Marco rocks and they appear to be leaching phosphates, I just picked up a bottle of Phosphate RX and am going to be adding that for the next few days to see if I can pull all of the phosphate out of the water. Link to comment
CrazyEyes
Still dealing with a bit of GHA but between the Phosphate RX and a group of Mexican turbo snails it should be gone soon. Here are the frags I picked up yesterday. I think once the GHA is all gone and gone for good I might start looking for some higher end zoas to create a zoa garden. I also want to grab some nice rics. I originally also wanted hammer/frogspawn but I don't think I want something so territorial so close to SPS in this little tank. This was literally 20 minutes after adding them to the display. They were all fully open while I was acclimating them. I have the light turned down a bit and am just going to slowly ramp the light up a bit until they stop stretching for light. Link to comment
jedimasterben
It's also a new tank, so I would not recommend to try and keep the water stripped to prevent algae growth, it's gonna happen whether you do that or not Link to comment
CrazyEyes
To be honest, I've never dealt with a hair algae outbreak like this from a new tank, I honestly think it's the marco rock leaching phosphates. Link to comment
jedimasterben
It's gonna go through some BAD uglies with dry rock no matter IMHO, doesn't really matter the source. Even my Reefcleaner rock is UGLY, but then again my tank doesn't grow coralline at all. Link to comment
