I ordered sand from Marco and it came very quickly. If for whatever reason you decide to use their sand, don't get the fine grain.. You'll never get rid of the silt.

Oh yeah, just saw you're in Florida too, yeah I can imagine you got your real quick, I'm in the Tampa area and it was way quick, with their free shipping. And I'm still deciding if I want sand, thinking something like fiji pink.

No, I'm actually going to leave it open and put a cat bed in there for my cat. I was going to put a door but honestly there won't be anything in there anyways for him to f*ck up.

Got the heatsink today. It's a pretty cool look enclosure. Now just have to add the LEDs and wire them up. Also started filling the holes on the stand and getting it ready for paint.

Hey Ben, so I need to ask, do you think this heatsink will offer enough cooling for the LEDs I'm adding to it, (4 vero 10s, 4 Luxeon K's, 14 430nm's and 4 limes, those will be split up into two clusters). The heatsink also has a 92mm fan.

The heatsink should have enough mass to keep them cool when the fan is running, but it won't be optimal depending on the current you run them at. A good quick test is once you get them all on, find the maximum setting for color and intensity that you want, and then leave it at that for an hour or so, then touch the heatsink. If it's not burning hot, then you're ok.

I can't imagine them running at hat high of a current anyways, except the violets, those bastards will probably be cranked all the way up. I guess we'll see, I have a couple spare fans from my old light so worse comes to worse I'll just throw some more air at them.

The violets will max out at just over 34 watts, so that isn't all that much. I've loaded a 6" MakersLED heatsink to ~150 watts and while it wasn't the best feeling to hold onto it, it didn't burn my skin, so it should have been less than 60C or so, meaning the LEDs were probably around 85-90C at the diode.

Should be taking some update pics soon. I've just been sanding sanding sanding the stand. I'm sure I could paint it now and it would look okay but, I'm sick of okay. I want as good as it can be.

Didn't get shit done on the Solana today because I wanted to do other stuff. But here is a little pico action. Added sand it to because I wasn't liking the way it was looking as a bare bottom.

Finally got some more work done on the stand, took it to my friend's garage because it beats the hell out of trying to sand / prep it on my tiny porch. Going to get quite a bit done on it Saturday then paint it up.

I was originally going to paint it gloss black just like I have with everything else, but I think I want to do something different. All the furniture in our apartment is black and I want this thing to completely stand out so I might go with a greenish/blue paint and give it a distressed look. I really like the way modern tanks look on antiqued stands.

Added a little shelf and a bottom piece, just need to paint it.

Then I had some scrap acrylic left over so we made this ratchet ass fish trap with a wood saw, no edge prep and super glue, because f*ck damsels.
