leedaly52
Hi guys, I have had a pair of ocellaris clowns for about 6 months now and a bit worried about their behaviour. They used to be scared whenever I came near the tank and hide but lately they have become brave and swim right up to my hand when it's in the tank. That wasn't an issue but lately the female has been doing the submission twitches to my hand. I'm worried this could affect the pair in some way. Has anyone had this happen before? Link to comment
Wiinberg
Consider yourself lucky. My clowns bite me. Link to comment
jestep
It's normal behavior. They either associate you with food, or are protecting their territory. Link to comment
CronicReefer
Yeah mine are vicious biters. I swear if they had teeth I'd be missing pieces of my fingers. I wouldn't worry about it effecting the relationship between your clowns though. Link to comment
Mariaface
Are you sure it's doing the submission dance and not trying to push water at you to make you go away? Link to comment
leedaly52
Thanks for the replies all, glad to know it's not going to harm the balance of the pair. Mariaface, no she isn't pushing water at me, it's defiantly the fast twitching that a submissive male normally does. Link to comment
HVani
I have seen my female do this to the male and he better do it back or he gets a whooping. I would think shes warning you. Link to comment
GT350pwns
It's definitely a warning. It's the precursor to more aggressive behavior toward the god of food. She will soon start to bite lol Link to comment

magikarp
mine bite and are relentless. The algae scubber is also an enemy of the clownfish. Link to comment
reefernanoman
The clown will start biting your hand in 3.2.1..... My killer huge female MCF will even push my hand out of my tank and ram into my hand as hard as she can! Oh yeah, and she will bite me too. Link to comment
Halo_003
I sold my first pair at the end of summer, thought I was downsizing to a 1G. I now have a single clown and thankfully she ignores my hand. In fact she seems afraid of my hand, which is something I'm very thankful of. Link to comment
alanwest09872
Literally just finished water change in my tank. My clown is constently attacking me. He just drew blood from my wrist. Little bastards going to bed without dinner Link to comment
