Bubble Algae - Peroxide?

Just saw two small bubble algae on one of my frags. Ugh. I am thinking peroxide?? I've used it before on GHA and worked miracles.

 

Any feedback on the use of peroxide on bubble algae would be appreciated.

Just take the frag out of your tank remove the bubble algae and rinse it off before putting it back in. Hydrogen peroxide can kill bubble algae but it's not always effective.

Okay thanks. There are only 3 "bubbles" on the frag at the moment. Ugh.

Id agree with that assessment. p is likely to kill any algae it comes into contact with, its the predicted regrowth that determines indication of use imo

 

its perfect for your intended use because you can see where all the algae is, currently

 

manual removal is fine as well, focus on removing the biomass as seen out of tank always vs any in tank cure, when available. peroxide is handy if you can accutely deliver it and not stress your nontarget coral tissue

 

I like to use it to burn off any leftovers..in this case spores, although its a misnomer that the water vacuoles are pure spores as thats only during reproduction time, mostly valonia cells are just water and extracellular materials/ per search returns

 

valonia when let loose is classed among the invaders of our tanks that is very hard to beat and keep gone, gha not so much, its the easiest even if you dont change nutrient profile. ats users do not agree with that and I dont agree you have to battle nutrients to battle algae, this back and forth keeps all of reefdom in a tug of war and its good science debate. both methods of algae control have a huge following (nutrient only battles vs direct action on the invader) you simply pick a method and run it@!
