chaualain
Fairy new to the hobby and my purple firefish randomly died not sure why but when i picked it out and examine it there was these two things on it. kinda has a hardshell one was in the mouth and one in the gill. Are these thing just feeding on it after it died or they caused the death? Link to comment
Horerczy
look like parasitic pods. could also just be regular pods doing clean up work though. Link to comment
chaualain
Sigh. Going to check parameters soon. Corals seem to be happy but the firefish didn't make it :/ Edit: just comparing pics around the internet looks like they are Cirolanid Isopods? Link to comment
nibor
+1 isopods Some are parasitic, some are harmless scavengers. Difficult to give a definitive answer from that photo. They look to be cirolanid but the eyes are smaller than typical and it is difficult to see the shape of the tail. http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2002-05/rs/ Link to comment
