Thinking about a Pico- My Intentions + Black Friday Sales I should look at?

Hey guys

I have a Nuvo Fusion 30L in the living room, that is going through a whole overhaul this weekend with an aquascape and glueing of frags.

It's also still evolving, battling some GHA (for which I added a GFO reactor), etc.

I have a 10g Quarantine set up in the basement for any new fish, but since there's only so much fish I can add, I will be exhausting its usefulness soon. I am going to order a Tailspot Blenny soon (2 Ocellaris Clownfish in it already) and I think that's pretty much maxed out. Since then the next thing that will be added will be corals, and I want to avoid bringing any nasty parasites as my coral livestock grows.

So this leads me to my bedroom, and my desire to have a desktop Pico.

I would love to use it to quarantine any new corals, since those will be the things added more frequently than fish. I guess the shrimp + goby pair is something I would love to see as well. Would something like a 4g-6g pico be suitable for those?

The thing is, I know it's even smaller, so temperature + salinity changes can be deadly. I use an auto top off on my 30L, so I guess I would definitely get one of those as well.

I am not into SPS corals yet, I love how things sway in the tank, so many of the LPS really appeal to me. I have seen some packages come with LED lights, and while there's no dimmable option or whatever, they say they can house LPS corals, so that seems fine.

Since I am having this itch, I know a lot of vendors are having sales. I saw the Micro-Reef's 2g deal, but 2 gallons seems so limited. Is there one someone would suggest, or perhaps convince me to NOT go into picos?

Well, I can try to convince you not to get one if you want I guess.

I had a 3 gallon JBJ Picotope years ago, got it for Christmas, set it up and it was doing great. Had my cycle, went and tossed in my cleanup crew and everything was going fine until about a week or two later when we had a huge snowstorm. It knocked out my power for about an hour. An hour in winter here without a running heater in a 3 gallon tank was insta-death for my poor critters. I didn't have any problems with manual top up but only because I checked it 2x a day. If you cant do that, an ATO would be a necessity. Micro reefs has that 4.3g black friday sale if you don't mind acrylic. Best price I have seen so far anywhere on the internet for an AIO!
